It was a peaceful morning in Hawaii within Kokaua Town as Lilo and Stitch awakened and headed downstairs for breakfast. They found Pleakley there instead of Nani, who greeted them with a smile as he was plating up the breakfast of eggs, bacon, and toast he had made, which he set down in front of the two of them.
“Good morning, sleepyheads,” the alien said in his usual cheerful tone. “I hope you two are hungry. A good breakfast is important for starting the day on the right foot.”
“We know,” both Lilo and Stitch replied as the two of them sat down.
“What have you two adventurers got planned for the day,” Pleakley asked.
“We’re going out experiment hunting again today,” Lilo told him. “We need to track down more of Stitch’s cousins.”
“Ih,” Stitch replied enthusiastically as he and Lilo began eating.
“Well, then you better make sure you eat all of your breakfast. You’re going to need the energy,” Pleakley replied.
“We’re planning to,” Lilo told him as she started eating too. “Where’s Jumba?”
Almost as though he’d been waiting for his name to be called, Jumba entered the kitchen. “Is good to be seeing you both awake. There is an experiment out causing chaos.”
“Which one,” Lilo asked.
“Is experiment 047. Experiment looks like what you call a platypus, with body like an accordion. I designed him as a way to embarrass old coworkers. He sneaks up on his victims and pulls their pants down. Most embarrassing for them, especially when in the middle of class,” Jumba gave a bit of a laugh.
“That doesn’t sound good,” Lilo commented, putting down her fork. “We better get out there and track him down before he causes too much trouble.”
“You’re not going anywhere until you finish your breakfast,” Pleakey told her authoritatively.
“But one of Stitch’s cousins is out causing mayhem. We’ve gotta stop him,” Lilo argued.
“Ih! Stop cousin,” Stitch agreed.
“The world isn’t going to end from someone’s pants being pulled down. Finish your breakfast, then you can go,” Pleakley said sternly.
“Okay,” both Lilo and Stitch replied in a defeated tone. The two of them began quickly shoveling down their food, and, much to Pleakley’s protesting, the moment they finished, they were quick to dash out the door.
Pleakley looked at Jumba with an annoyed glare. “Why do you always do that?”
“What? Is not my fault evil experiment is doing what he’s programmed to do,” Jumba replied.
“Actually, it is your fault, Jumba. You created them in the first place. And you could have at least waited until after breakfast to tell them. One of these days, they’re going to get hurt eating that fast.”
Jumba just shrugged in response.
As Lilo and Stitch ran from the house, they quickly began looking for signs of the experiment in question and the chaos it was causing. They didn’t have to search long before they came across several people who either had their pants down fully or were in the process of pulling them up.
“Looks like we’ve found where he’s been making a mess of things, Stitch,” Lilo remarked. “We should see if any of them knows where he went.”
“Good idea,” Stitch commented as he and Lilo ran toward some of the nearby people who had just finished pulling their pants up.
“Excuse me... Have any of you seen a platypus run through here,” Lilo asked.
One of the men there looked at her, both annoyed and embarrassed. “Yeah, I saw him. That thing’s a nuisance.”
“Do you know which way he went,” the little girl asked.
The man pointed down the street nearby. “He ran off that way. Just follow the trail of people with their pants down. The little monster seems to think it’s funny.”
“Mahalo,” Lilo replied. “Come on, Stitch!” She quickly ran in the direction he had pointed.
“Coming,” Stitch said. He looked at the man Lilo was talking to and thanked him before quickly running after Lilo.
Just as the man had said, as the two of them headed down the street, they found more and more people with their pants down. They continued running but found no sign of the platypus experiment anywhere.
“Cousin moving fast,” Stitch commented as the two of them looked around.
“He can’t have gotten that far,” Lilo replied. “We have to keep looking.”
The two of them ran up to another person who had just pulled his pants up after falling victim to the experiment’s antics, based on the embarrassed look on his face. “Excuse me... We’re looking for a platypus that ran by here...”
“That thing is a troublemaker,” the male said. “He came running up behind me when I wasn’t looking, and he just...”
“... Pulled your pants down,” Lilo commented, finishing his sentence. “We’ve heard that a lot. Do you know which way he went?”
The flustered man pointed farther down the street. “He went that way, after doing the same thing to a couple of others. Is he yours?”
Lilo gave him an uneasy look. “No! Well, not really.”
“Cousin,” Stitch shouted out, pointing down the street the man had pointed down.
About a block down the street, the blue platypus creature was seen yanking down someone else’s pants, which was accompanied by a yell and the person in question fumbling to try and pull his pants back up.
“We gotta grab him quick,” Lilo commented. She was about to run off but stopped herself long enough to apologize and thank the man before taking off in the direction of the experiment.
The platypus was indeed working fast. He stopped just long enough to yank someone’s pants down before quickly dashing off to someone else nearby. He only seemed interested in doing one person each time he stopped, as if he were trying to keep from staying in one place too long.
Lilo and Stitch continued chasing after the experiment from place to place, but neither could catch up in time to grab him.
“We’ve got to think of a way to catch up to him, Stitch,” Lilo remarked.
“We need wheels. Go faster,” Stitch replied in response.
“Why didn’t I think of that,” Lilo commented. “But we have to hurry. The longer we take, the more time he’ll have to embarrass people. Come on!”
“Ih!” Stitch nodded, and the two of them raced back to their home.
When they arrived, they ran right past Pleakley, who was now tending to his garden in front of the house. “Did you catch him,” Pleakley asked.
“Not yet. We need a ride so we can track him down faster,” Lilo told him.
“Nani’s at work, remember? And she has the car,” Pleakley reminded her.
“What about our cruiser,” Lilo asked.
“Nani kept that in the trunk,” the alien replied.
“Rats,” Lilo responded with a disappointed look. “Guess that means we’re stuck with my tricycle. Come on, Stitch!” She dashed toward where she had it sitting and was about to take off before Jumba’s voice stopped her.
“Little girl and 626 might want to hurry. 047 is on the news,” Jumba told them.
“What?!” Lilo looked at him. She quickly ran inside, and, just as Jumba had said, the reporter was there speaking.
“No one can seem to catch him,” the reporter comments. “But every time he stops, he does so only long enough to yank someone’s pants down before he runs off again. There have been reports of it happening all over the place. Be careful not to get caught by... Hey!”
The platypus had taken advantage of the reporter’s distracted state, came up behind him, and, in one quick movement, yanked his pants down before laughing maniacally and running off.
Before he got too far, though, Lilo and Stitch noticed someone else showing up on camera.
As the camera’s view changed, loud, thumping footsteps were heard, and Gantu appeared on the screen. “I’ve lost way too many of these little monsters already. I’m not letting this one get away.”
Coming up behind him, 625 spoke up. “I’m telling you, Blubberbutt, you’re making a big mistake...”
“Quiet,” Gantu shouted. He pulled out his blaster and fired at the blue alien, running after him.
The reporter spoke up once more, though he was no longer visible on screen. “It seems someone has come to try and capture the mischievous little creature. With as big as he is, let’s hope he can.”
The platypus didn’t have too much trouble dodging Gantu’s blasts, but he couldn’t stay far enough ahead of Gantu to remain out of reach, due to how large Gantu was. Instead, he quickly dashed behind the large alien, and, using his accordion-like body, propelled himself upward to the waistband of Gantu’s pants, quickly yanking them down. He then took off running once more.
“Hey! Get back here you little... whooooooaa!” Gantu immediately tripped, landing on the ground with a loud thud. Beneath his pants, now visible to anyone watching within the area or watching on TV were Gantu’s boxers, which sported several cute little heart-shaped designs all over.
Seeing this caused everyone in the area to start cracking up, pointing and laughing at Gantu, even despite the sour mood many of them were in just moments prior.
Stumbling to get his pants back up, Gantu stood and glared in 625’s direction. “Why didn’t you warn me?!”
“I tried, but you wouldn’t listen,” 625 replied with a cheeky grin.
“Ugh... Let’s just get out of here. The little girl and the trog can have this one.” With that, Gantu ran off.
“Wait for me,” 625 replied, running after him.
Lilo couldn’t help laughing. “Let’s get moving, Stitch! We’ve got a cousin to catch, and at least we don’t have to worry about Gantu now.” Lilo quickly ran back outside. She got on her trike, and Stitch climbed on before Lilo pedaled off.
Along the ride, the two saw more signs of people who had been the victim of the experiment’s antics, made evident by either the embarrassed looks on their faces or the conversations they were having. It took quite a while for the two of them to make it to the department store, and, when they had, the news crew was still there. It looked as though the experiment hadn’t stopped with only the reporter.
“That’s not good,” Lilo commented.
“Naga,” Stitch replied. “Have to stop cousin.”
“But this department store is huge. He could be anywhere,” Lilo said with a sigh. She started pedaling toward the news reporter, who wasn’t currently on the camera. “Excuse me...”
“Sorry, little girl. I can’t talk right now. I’m a bit preoccupied,” the man commented, sounding irritated.
“That’s what I wanted to ask about. Do you know where the platypus that’s been causing this chaos went,” Lilo asked.
“All I can tell you is I arrived here to report on that thing and it snuck up behind me and yanked my pants down before running off inside the store,” he commented.
“We’ll catch him. Don’t worry,” Lilo said. “I’m sorry he did that to you.”
“That doesn’t change the fact he did it,” the reporter replied. “But thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Lilo replied. She then pedaled toward the department store and headed inside. Looking around, it didn’t take long for her to spot the direction the platypus had gone, as she heard many people shrieking in surprise along the large walkway of the department store.
Looking around, Stitch pointed toward one of the stores, just in time to see the experiment run inside it. “That way,” he shouted out.
Lilo didn’t waste time. She quickly pedaled toward the store, dashing inside. Once there, she saw the platypus sneaking up behind an elderly man at the counter paying for some items he had gathered. “Look out,” she shouted. She was too late, though.
Before the older man could react, the experiment had reached up, grabbed the waistband of the shorts he was wearing, and pulled them down, causing both him and the cashier there to gasp in surprise. The experiment then let out another evil chuckle before dashing off to one of the corners of the store.
At that point, Stitch jumped off the tricycle and dashed after him, shouting when he caught up to his cousin. “Cousin!”
This caught the platypus’ attention, who turned to look at him. “Meega nala kweesta!”
Stitch gasped at that and quickly ran toward him in attempt to grab him, but the experiment dodged him and ran past and left the store. “Lilo,” he called out as he ran after his cousin.
Lilo pedaled back over, waiting for Stitch to hop onto the trike before leaving the store again. By the time they left the store, the experiment had already disappeared again, though a random shout of surprise told them which direction to go. Lilo pedaled down a couple more stores, where she caught sight of the mischievous alien pulling another person’s pants down. “This is crazy. Doesn’t he ever run out of energy? How are we ever going to catch him?”
Stitch was quiet for a moment as he looked around. His eyes scanned the department store until they fell upon the tailor’s shop nearby, with a display of partially-dressed mannequins near the entryway. “There!” Stitch pointed.
Lilo looked in the direction Stitch was pointing. “A tailor? What about it, Stitch?”
“Dress up! Make cousin come! Catch cousin!”
Lilo smiled. “That’s a great idea! Let’s see if the owner will let us do it.”
She pedaled to the tailor’s shop and entered, going up to the counter. “Excuse me?”
Standing at the counter was a woman who looked at Lilo. “What can I do for you?”
“Have you seen the platypus that’s been running around this building,” Lilo asked.
“I haven’t seen it, but I’ve certainly had my share of people coming in to hide from it,” she said. “Why?”
“We were wondering if we could dress up some of your mannequins to lure him in here so we could catch him. We want to stop him from causing trouble for everyone,” Lilo told her.
“I’m not sure I like the idea of letting that thing loose in here, but if it will help you to catch him, I suppose I would be willing to allow it,” she said.
“Mahalo. If he makes any mess, we’ll help clean it up after we catch him,” Lilo replied. “Now... we just need some extra clothes to dress the mannequins up in...”
“I have a few pieces of clothing that people have left behind as donations that you could use,” the woman said.
“Perfect,” Lilo said with a smile. “Let’s get to work, Stitch!”
“Ih,” Stitch replied with a nod.
The next several minutes were spent with Lilo and Stitch dressing up a couple of the mannequins and turning them so it looked like they were talking to each other.
Once they were set up, Lilo looked at Stitch. “Okay, now we just need to lure him back here.”
“From what I heard, he seemed to be stopping randomly around people that were gathered together and talking,” the woman told Lilo.
“We’ve noticed that too,” Lilo replied. “I guess we have to make it sound like the two mannequins are talking to each other too. We just have to stay hidden so he doesn’t see us when we’re doing it.”
“Ih!”
Once they decided on what to do, Lilo and Stitch hid behind some shelves near the mannequins.
“Doesn’t my new outfit look amazing,” Lilo asked.
“Looks good,” Stitch replied.
“Yours looks really good too,” Lilo replied.
“Fits better,” Stitch commented.
“Mine fits much better now too,” Lilo remarked.
Right then, they heard the sound of the experiment’s laughter nearby.
The platypus was seen entering the tailor’s shop right then and immediately went right for the mannequin Stitch had dressed up. As soon as he went for the mannequin’s pants, both Lilo and Stitch came out of hiding and grabbed him.
“Gotcha!” Lilo shouted.
The platypus struggled, but with Stitch grabbing hold of him, he was unable to escape. “Cousin need to stop! Listen!”
“Naga!” The platypus continued to struggle.
“Don’t you see that what you’re doing is mean,” Lilo asked. “Why not do something to help people rather than embarrass them?”
The experiment stopped struggling and gave Lilo an inquisitive grunt.
Lilo looked at the woman who had helped them set things up. “Do you work here by yourself?”
The woman nodded, giving Lilo a curious look. “I have help, but, most days, I’m here alone. Why?”
“Do you think you could use some help with things here,” Lilo asked.
“From him?”
Lilo looked back at the experiment. “If Stitch lets you go, will you be good and leave people alone? No more pulling people’s pants down, okay?”
The platypus fell silent for a moment, as if contemplating Lilo’s words. After about thirty seconds, he nodded. “Ih!”
“Let him go, Stitch,” Lilo responded.
Carefully, Stitch let go and stepped back.
Lilo looked at the experiment in silence, waiting to see if he would do anything before she spoke. “Now... I guess the first thing we need to do is figure out what to call you. I mean, if you’re going to help out, you need a name... How about Lorider. I mean...with that accordion body of yours you can get pretty high, but you’re really low to the ground otherwise, just like a pair of low-riding pants.”
The platypus gave her another inquisitive look before replying again. “Ih!”
“And as for helping... if you can stretch like that, it might make it easier for you to take measurements with people that are different sizes too,” Lilo added. “That way, things are more accurate.”
The woman looked at Lilo. “I suppose it would be nice not to have to struggle with some of my taller or larger clients when they need measurements,” she said. “But what makes you so sure he’ll behave himself?”
Stitch was the one to respond to the question this time. “Cousin not bad. Cousin just need place to belong.”
Lilo nodded. “Right. If he has somewhere he can put his abilities to better use, he won’t have any reason to cause trouble. What do you say? Will you give him a chance?”
The woman pondered this for several moments before nodding. “Okay, I’ll let him stay and help, but he had better not harass any of my clients.”
Lilo shook her head. “He won’t! Right, Lorider?”
Lorider nodded. “Ih!”
“Okay...”
A while later, a couple of adults entered the shop, carrying some clothes. Neither of them noticed Lorider standing there as they approached the counter. One of them spoke up. “Hi. I was wondering if I could get some help with some adjustments to my suit.”
The woman turned her attention to the person that had spoken. “Absolutely. What did you need to have done with it?”
With the woman’s attention on her customer, Lilo turned her attention to Stitch. “Well, it looks like there won’t be any more problems now. That will probably make everyone a lot happier.”
“Ih!” He turned to Lorider. “Aloha, cousin,” he said with a wave before he left the store with Lilo, getting back on the trike as Lilo pedaled out of the store.
As they exited, Lilo made her way back over to where the news crew had been before. Most of the equipment had been put back in the truck by the time they had come out, and it looked as though the reporter was just about to leave, just as Lilo pedaled over. “Aloha!”
“Hello again,” the reporter replied, seeming noticeably calmer than he was before.
“You’ll be happy to know there won’t be any more tricks. He’s good now, and he’s somewhere where he can help people instead of causing mischief,” Lilo told him.
“I could have done without having to experience that myself, but I suppose if I don’t have to worry about him pulling my pants down again, that’s a good thing,” the reporter replied. “And I definitely didn’t need him sniffing me before that, either.”
“You don’t have to worry. He won’t be doing anything like that to you or anyone else,” Lilo told him.
“Well, that’s good. Anyway, I have to get back to the station,” the report commented.
“Aloha!” Lilo waved as she watched him get in his van and drive off. She then looked at Stitch. “I guess we should get back home, huh? If we’re not back before Nani gets home, it’ll just make her mad.”
Stitch cringed, thinking about it. “Ih. Let’s go home.”
With that, the two made their way back. When they arrived at the house again, they saw no sign of Nani’s car, which caused both of them to give sighs of relief.
Lilo put her tricycle away before heading inside with Stitch behind her. “Jumba? Pleakley? We’re home!”
Jumba’s footsteps were heard coming from the kitchen. “Did little girl and 626 catch experiment?”
Lilo gave a proud smile. “Yep! And we figured out a good place for him too. Lorider is helping at a tailor shop in the department store!”
“This is good news. One less experiment to worry about,” Jumba commented.
“Uh-huh. And we managed to do it and get back before Nani got home too.”
The front door was pushed open again as Nani entered. “Do what before I got home?”
“Nothing,” Jumba, Stitch, and Lilo all said at once.
