Rocket is a cybernetic and genetic experiment with a very tragic backstory. He was born as a normal animal before being modified.

Ah, thanks. I watched the first movie but I haven't seen anything since nor have I read any of the comics. (I stopped reading "normal" comics over 35 years ago.
