At last, here's the true and thorough design evolution of Rigel, complete with the media that he was originally drawn on with colored pencils along with his recent digital drawings. His design process even includes his special transformations and design drafts.
Here are many of the important timeline points that played a VERY important and vital part of my inspiration in his design evolution:
2004 - Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Powerpuff Girls, Pokemon, Samurai Jack and Looney tunes were the framework for building up my imagination, creating and doodling Rigel for the first time.
2006 - Video games, especially Nintendo games and Klonoa, became a staple of Rigel's action oriented personality and quirky abilities.
2008 - The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Smash Bros Brawl help boosted my ideas for worldbuilding and lore for Rigel's story. Star Fox gave me inspiration for Rigel's space fighter-styled clothing.
2009 - Rigel's design shift began to lean more towards Klonoa, Sonic and Pokemon.
2010 - The base design that stood with me for the LONGEST time, inspired by Klonoa, Sonic and a little bit of resemblance to Sanrio's My Melody.
2011 - The Year of The Rabbit, the "golden age" of Rigel's sonic-inspired design. Optimus Prime from transformers and Spider-man became added to the mix of Rigel's personality and abilities. Rigel was also given some super forms inspired by many modern sonic games, as well as multiverse counterpart designs.
2012 - Sonic inspiration continues. Marvel's Captain America sparks more new ideas for Rigel's powers and weaknesses. TysonTan's influence begins. I finally create my own DeviantArt account under the name "BlackRabbit000"
2013 - The start of my liking to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Attack on Titan. Rigel's story and powers take a drastic change. I get into the Assassin's Creed game series and note some worldbuilding ideas and supporting characters from it.
2014 - Attack on Titan and My Little Pony inspiration grows. Tysontan's influence continues.
2016 - The start of my transition to digital art and learning life drawing in college. Other anime like One punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Made in Abyss, and My Hero Academia take the lead in giving me ideas for Rigel's powers, weaknesses, backstory and worldbuilding. Assassin's Creed and Sonic influence decline. Practicing Rigel's turnaround and character sheet. Making my first storyboard presentation.
2017 - Learning how to make more storyboards and gif images for my ocs.
2018 - Posting my oc drawings and gifs on DeviantArt for the very first time. My username is changed to "Jo-Vee-Al." Took a year-long hiatus from DA.
2019 - Pokemon Sword and Shield is announced along with its starters, sparking tremendous inspiration for me to draw and post my very first anthro scorbunny fanart. Rigel's redesign begins anew. My adventure in the art community begins...
