haha yea. Same story, used to play those games on ps1. Inspired by them me and my pal tried to skate and do tricks on cheap ass skateboards that did not roll well. And they were very loud too. But It didn't stop me. In the end I managed to learn few simple tricks and that was it. There were no specific skateparks but I am sure I'd break something XD

Cousin got me a skateboard many years ago when I was a tad younger. He explains how it works, did some skating about to show off what he could do, then told me to try it.
He fully expected me to bruise my butt or something.
I did what he did, scooted around for a bit, did some stunting, rolled up next to him and asked, "What's the appeal?"
He said all sorts of nasty things about me gaslighting him until I reminded that I ride a bicycle without using my hands.
