Excited about the day her first brood will hatch she waited looking at the movement of the eggs as they started to chip away and roll. The first one to hatch out was a large heavy built youngling. She saw him as he pulled the rest of himself out of his shell stopping to breathe for a break till he was free. She started to cry at the sight of her firstborn. She put her hand over him picking him up and bathing him with her tongue getting the remnants off of him. She placed him in the nest and looked back as the others were hatching she continued to watch the others in anticipation. The rest were still moving around trying to break free. The second one to chip enough to see it was a beautiful female with a light blue glow. She grabbed her up and cleaned her up placing her with her brother. There was only one more that she saw moving it slowly chipped out as she looked closer at what was her last.
She looked down and saw a little eye looking at her as the little one continued to break free trying to take his first breath. Eventually she finally decided to help him with his hatching and pulled some of the chipped shell back as the little babe started grunting breaking free as he stumbled out. The last one hatched seemed small and sickly looking with bright yellow eyes looking back at his mother. He breathed heavy and yawned from all the exhausted. She smiled at the little runt and cleaned him up with her tongue and placed him with his siblings as she thought she had all her young she looked over to where the eggs had been and saw another far back like it had been forgotten. She reached out to grab it and as it was cold to the touch her smile turned to concern as the egg hadn't moved at all she gave it a while under her as she fed her litter.
Still not feeling the movement of the egg she decided to help with the process as she chipped a small hole to see if there was any one in there. She only saw a small little one inside with no sign of life she worried as she chipped away frantically and saw the small lifeless youngling in front of her. Her heart sank at the sight of it there was no way to express the feeling she felt for the one that was gone. Looking back at the others and back at her hands holding the cold baby she didn't know what to do this being her first time being a mother as she thought "Did I fail? What have I done wrong?” Being alone with 3 young and one deceased she couldn't do anything to stop from what had happened. She placed him on the ground with the rest not knowing what to do with it but cry for her loss. She continued to nurse the others hoping that maybe he wasn't died but sleeping but all she could do is hope.
