It's not just needing to click the "keep watching" that pisses me off. It's being punished for rewinding a video now. Just annoying the viewers to push any sort of engagement, regardless of how it affects the user experience.
Did people just stop caring about dedicated music devices when streaming happened? Every time I see someone talk about spotify ads or youtube playlists or artists getting removed from certain services I'm just like, "Windows has a media player for a a y'know."

I do move off YouTube to media players when shit gets too annoying (or as of recently, purposefully upsetting), but the only problem is that while you can [LEGALLY PURCHASE] music, tv, and movies to watch offline, video essays, deep dives, let's plays, and just general shit like that tends to be exclusive to streaming platforms, and unfeasible to host on [LEGAL DOWNLOAD] sites because of the sheer volume of them. So while yeah, I can open up winamp to listen to some music, or vlc to watch some cartoons, or even find a podcast to listen to, I do miss out on a lot of my favourite shit to idly listen or watch because of the stranglehold Youtube has on long-form user made videos.
