I think the tricky part of the question is not "which music you like best" but "stuck with your brother, mother and best friend" -- if the vehicle is to arrive at its destination safely, their tolerance for music (or lack of) must be addressed too.
I would go for deathmetal too, but I have been on roadtrips where I went for a compromise genre for sake of the company.
still, with gospel and j-pop as the only other options, its really a no-brainer.
