The main thing that annoys me is loud people or people that only know how to do small talk.
I hope I'm not projecting but he does not sound like that, so we could end up as friends indeed.

I wonder what he would talk about if he gets more comfortable and I let him ramble on.

All interesting subjects.
And that's not even counting the fact that any subject can be interesting if the person talking is passionate enough. Even if the topic itself doesn't interest you, when someone goes into details about it, you're bound to find that some of those details can be applied to other situations you are interested in.
