Another of my Trek things. Here we have a lil guy who was Borg but has been kinda liberated from the collective. Still with my redesign look. Thinking I'll do another pic of him down the road with the more modest redesigns I've been thinking of.

Russel Hayden wasn't really too different from your average little boy on a StarFleet station. He was smart, curious, always up for a minor adventure and was far from the only non human around. But he was still different. For one while he looked maybe 8 he was actually closer to 4. A month or two in a Borg maturation chamber had done that and saw too it that the little boy was no longer human. The attack on the ship he'd been on ensured there would be no return to that form. The ship itself had been lost along with it's DNA records. Without those it was much harder to restore former drones to their previous selves and even then the restoration would never be complete. Still a few tweaks could be made, giving Russel some hair and more humanoid eyes. Russel was lucky indeed. The ship he was on would up being set upon by a Cooperative vessel assisted by StarFleet. The crew of the Cube he'd been on were liberated and he was released from the Maturation chamber.

His memories of it all were fuzzy. He remembered his life aboard the starship with his mom and dad. He remembered all kinds of things about that. But he didn't remember that day very well. The doctors said he might have repressed it. Russel was happy not to remember much. What he did remember was scary and not something he liked to think about. He didn't remember his time in the maturation chamber either but did come out of it with a lot of basic knowledge. Of course basics such as toilet training weren't included. After all those things are taken care of by cybernetics in a Borg so why would it need to waste space on that? Russel remembered the kind StarFleet officers that helped him and the rest of the cube. He remembered the Cooperative Borg and how nice they were. He also remembered being told that his dad was still alive and back in Sol. He remembered running to his father at the Dyson sphere outpost and jumping into his arms. He remembered snuggling into his dad and feeling safe again. He remembered his daddy crying as much as he had.

Since then Russel and his father had settled into this back in Sol at the Utopia Planetia Ship Yards. It was a safe and stable environment and Russel was getting used to things. Hey occasionally got looks, stares even but nothing more. Most saw him and recognized him as a victim of the Collective. Being a child and never even having had to chance to actually be used by them probably helped too. He'd made some friends here and there. It was a bit hard. Socially he could still be as naive as his real age at times. Academically he was well ahead of his peers thanks to the database downloaded into his head. He was still in diapers for one. He hadn't been quite ready yet to be out of them at the time and wasn't exactly eager to do so now. His father didn't see a need to push it. Besides there was so much new about his body now even the doctors had said they weren't sure how easy it'd be for him or how long he'd take getting used to things. Russel's diapers were an occasional source of teasing but when your a kid that can climb walls, can download class lessons, and are a lot stronger than the average kid that tends to get overlooked.

The later was one thing that Russel had to be careful about. Realizing just how much stronger he was now. He'd accidentally snapped a few Styluses not realizing how strong he was. But even that didn't make him stand out too much. A Klingon girl told him she'd done the same a few times and Russel felt better. It was nice to have some friends. He may have been different but he wasn't too different at the end of the day. He still had tribble bed sheets and a slept with a big teddy bear. The only real difference was a bit of tech slipped into his bed to allow him to both sleep and Regenerate at the same time. Sure he wasn't human anymore but close enough. He was still just a little boy. A Little Borg Boy.

Well hope you guys liked the pic and the lil story. ^^ Here's hoping it's not nearly as long until my next post. XD
