IMPORTANT: These are all MY opinions and are based on my specific likings. If you do not feel the same on my opinions as me, then by all means, don't be. Just don't feel offended for some of these. All the images belong to SEGA/Sonic Team and IDW Comics.

Also sorry for the lenght on some of these descriptions but I have A LOT to say about this topic. ^^'

-Favorite Character= Silver the Hedgehog. If you know me, you know I'm a SUCKER for Silver, the reason being that he's so gosh darn relatable to me, aside from having one of my favorite powers in the whole word: psychokinesis. I see a lot of myself in his personality: a naive but determined kid, honest beyond reason and doing good selflessly, not striving to better his own life but literally everybody else's and never giving up while fighting for his dream. Plus, I find him super adorable. I don't care if he's literally Trunks from Dragon ball Z, because I like Trunks and the comparison only makes me like Silver even more. There's literally no downside to his character and I will never stop bitching about how much I absolutely ADORE him.
Honorable mentions: Knuckles (Main games, Sonic X and movie), Espio (Main games, Sonic X), Blaze.

-Least Favorite Character= Boom Knuckles. Yeah, I detest the series with every fiber of my body because, to quote a meme which also fits because it's from an Italian stereotype: "Look at how they massacred my boy.". Knuckles is one of my favorite characters in the series so to see his character and concept bastardized  like they did in Sonic Boom was a real kick in the nuts for me. They turned a stoic character, a fierce warrior whose naivete comes from being isolated for his entire life and relentless justice machine that hits like a freight train into a downright idiot, literally unable to tell his left and right. I'm not joking, they show this in like the first minutes of the game. He's also unsufferably cocky, as if the show and games needed a second Sonic but dumber, and tries so hard to be funny, but in the end comes out as cringe as fuck. I'm so glad the show is discontinued and we'll never see any new games taking place in the series.

-Favorite Show= Sonic X. I know, easy pickings here, but can y'all honestly blame me? Top notch story telling, amazing animation and voice acting (including the Italian version which I watched) and sure, Chris is extremely annoying, but it's like the only major gripe I have with an otherwise fantastic show which totally deserved a fourth season. This section might be smaller, but there have been more competent content creators out here who can tell way better than me why Sonic X is great and one of the few animes I watch gladly.
Honorable mentions: Sonic Prime, Sonic Mania Adventures

-Least Favorite Show= Sonic Boom. Yeah, the show is not good for me. While the cgi is not bad and the island is pretty varied, even though they re-use a lot of locations like Sonic's shack and whatnot, and also I don't have an issue with a series beign more light and episodic, it's the characters that kill me, revive me and kill me back. They all try and fail so spectacularly to be comedic, it goes around and it'ìs not even fun that they fail to entertain. They've all been dumbed down for the series, in an attempt to pull a Crash of the Titans kinda thing where it was more comedy based, but while Crash managed to somewhat succeed in being funny, Sonic Boom just doesn't. On top of it, in the games we are given no explanation what is the island we are on, why we're here and what any of the new characters are. Over all, Sonic Boom was not good and, like I said before, I'm glad it has been discontinued.

-Most Overrated Character= Shadow the Hedgehog. I know, I know: how dare I, random ass guy on the Internet, not see the appeal of THE Shadow the Hedgehog, one of the most popular characters in the fandom? See, the thing is: I don't really get what's so special behind him. He's the Vegeta of the Sonic Universe and yes, I just said above that I like Silver for being based off of Trunks and I know that Sonic characters resemble a whole awful lot to DBZ characters, but here's the thing: I personally don't like Vegeta as a character, so the same is reflected on Shadow. He's WAY too overused, stealing the spotlight from more deserving characters, and shoved in games and medias I personally don't think he fits, as in the more comedic Sonic Boom or the already lackluster Sonic Forces. Like, did we really needed an Episode Shadow only to play as a slightly different-moving Sonic on stages that change only for the remixes of the Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog soundtrack (which I have to admit are pretty solid)? That said though, I don't really hate Shadow as a character, I just wish SEGA would give the spotlight to other characters aside him.

-Most Underrated Character= Espio the Chameleon. Honestly, this place could also be fit for Silver, but I don't like repeating myself. Besides, Espio is one of my favorite characters and has had so little time in the spotlight, with like two or three games in which he was playable. Team Chaotix is my favorite team to play in Sonic Heroes because it has Espio featured in it and he is so much more unique compared to other Speed-based characters who just limits to "Gotta Go Fast". Espio has honestly the capacity for a game of his own, with stealth options and weapon swapping including Insomniac Spider-Man-like wall crawling/running sections. I can't be the only one who thinks that'd be cool as heck, right? Plus, I like how in a world of more comedic characters, he's one of the more serious and down to earth characters, his comedy style being in that he takes things just a smidge too seriously.
Honorable mentions: Silver, Blaze

-Favorite Game= Sonic Frontiers. I. LOVE. THIS. GAME! Storywise, it's brilliant. One of the best-written stories we've seen in a Sonic game in a LONG time (Thank you so much, Ian Flynn), which ALSO manages to wipe the slate clean for some of the characters, mainly Tails and Knuckels with Amy having received a bit of development in Forces, losing the obsession for Sonic, but she still gets a bit more development here. Tails, who received the hard end of the stick in Forces, recognizes how low he had gotten back then and stgrives to become a better hero agan, just like in Adventures which has the best Tails, personality-wise, to date. Knuckles is a treat to watch and listen to in the game, mainly because it's like washing away the bad taste left from past games and series (*cough* *cough* Sonic Boom *cough* *cough*), and returns him the way (or rather, da way) he was meant to be: the stoic, headstrong and independent lone fighter who butts heads with Sonic but nonetheless enjoys his company. And Eggman? Good grief, Eggman has one of the best arcs in the game! They manage to give Eggman a daughter, for Pete's sake! A daughter that he actually CARES ABOUT?! Seeing the same madman who has no qualms in suggesting genocide, robbing ancient temples and archeological sites in his quest for world domination and revenge against his sworn arch-enemy and kidnapping and torturing innocent animals wonder if his daughter has a gender preference, question himself if what he feels for her is the same that everyone else felt about his cousin Maria and claiming to be PROUD of her, something that he never said to any of his other creation, made me feel so much more compelled towards him and warmed me up to his sadness after the idea of losing SAGE. The free-roaming approach to the game, while similar to Breath of The Wild, was very well appreciated, exploring the islands top to bottom was very fun and I even enjoyed fishing with Big to earn tokens and get all the necessary to complete the game. And the music! THE FUCKING MUSIC! The more ambience based music of the regular levels was fun, and the musci when fighting the minibosses was cool too, but the cherry on top were the ABSOLUTE BANGERS that were ther boss battle themes! All of them captured me, helped by how cinematic and grand the battles felt, and I'm still listening them to this day. This game has basically no downside to me and is my go to game whenever I want to remember that Sonic can be well-written.
Honorable mentions: Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Mania, Sonic Unleashed

-Despised Game= Sonic Forces. I don't like this game. At all. Not only because of what it is, but because of what it could've been. Why it was so hard for SEGA to write a more serious story, more grounded in reality? If you're writing a story about going to war, you can't have it narrated by a basic-ass story with a lame villain (which you can read about further down)! The Wisps made absolutely no sense for me in this game, as well as in Lost World, the characters wer written poorly to say the least, the worst examples being Tails going from his Sonic Adventure counterpart (which defeated Chaos 4 and Doctor Eggman ON HIS OWN) to a bumbling wimpy kid who gets scared of Chaos 0 and is WAY too attached to Classic Sonic (who couldn't have been added to the game at all and nothing would've changed, but they wanted to link this game to the far superior Sonic Mania) and the absolute disrespect towards Silver, having him being defeated so easily. I get it, Infinite is powerful but so is Silver! Was it too hard to not have him lose immediately? Admittedly, the avatar creation is enjoyable, but they give too few models to work with, so the freedom to make your own hero is actually pretty limited. All in all, Sonic Forces was downright bad, but I'm glad that this time they learned from their mistakes and whipped up the amazing Frontiers after it.
(Dis)Honorable mentions: Sonic Lost World, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Sonic and the Secret Rings

-Favorite Couple= Silver and Blaze. This is my OTP, and honestly a relationship I'd like to have: one with equal grounds, where they both respect and care for each other while both being able to kickass on their own. Blaze (my favorite female character, btw) being a strong, dependant female contrasts fantastically with Silver's more brash and naive personality and I don't mind whenever she reprimands him because you can tell she only has her most genuine interest in shaping Silver to be a better hero and hedgehog. The scene in Sonic 06 where she confesses her feelings to him before sacrifing herself to fix the future was honestly heart-wrenching and the first time seeing it I shed a tear. It was good to see them interact again after Sonic 06 and see that they still have a great chemistry and trust in each other and I wish their relationship was explored further in a future game, perhaps one where we control either Blaze or Silver, mixing blazing fast courses with mind-scracthing (but well-made) psychic-based puzzle elements.
Honorable mentions: Sonic and Amy, Silver and Sonic, Silver and Amy, Knuckles and Rouge

-Least Favorite Couple= Shadow and Amy. Now, a quick clarification: the meme format says despised, but I modified it to "not exactly my favorite" because I actually don't straight up hate the Shadow and Amy couple. I think that, when given the right context, it can work and be wholesome. It's just not my usual go-to when it comes to shipping. Like, if Sonic is taken by someone else, be it male or female, I usually pair Amy with Silver or anyone else, and if nothing fits I ship her with Shadow. However, usually I either ship Shadow with Hedgehog Maria or Rouge, and I'm generally a Sonamy guy, so that's why I draw the Shadamy pair scarcely: not because I hate the couple, but because it's not a ship I use frequently.

-Favorite Villain= Metal Sonic. Hands down, one of my favorite enemies in the Sonic franchise and one that, when written properly, can become a serious threat. The first time playing Sonic Heroes, when I saw the Metal Overlord transformation, I was in awe. I watched, slack-jawed, as Neo Metal Sonic (top tier Metal Sonic design in my book) transformed first into the imposing and threatening-looking Metal Madness, which has you play as the other teams to weaken it, and then into Metal Overlord (granted, it just grows wings, but they're cool so whatevs.), needing the Super Team Sonic to be taken down. Metal has also a very cool personality, with the whole believing to be the real Sonic and hellbent on taking him down to prove himsefl superior bit, and power set, I'm especially in love with his ability to copy other's powers and the ability to outrun Sonic (for a short period of time) and even be a worthy fight for the likes of Knuckles and Shadow. Sure, it takes a bit of a backseat in future games, but I'm never disappointed when it appears to throw down with Sonic and friends (yes, even in the dreaded Sonic Boom series and games) and I was honestly hoping we'd get to see it in the third Sonic movie instead of Shadow in a cool Sonic CD-based movie, but eh, beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Still hoping to see Metal on the big screen. Also, in the OVA, I love the idea of Sonic and Metal being physically and mentally connected and Metal sacrificing himself in the end because it gets a bit of Sonic's good and the "There is only one Sonic" gives me chills everytime.
Honorable mentions: Doctor Eggman, Mephiles the Dark

-Least Favorite Villain= Infinite the Jackal. What. A. Letdown of a villain. Like the game, the Ultimate Mercenary had everything in place to become the ultimate baddie, with a real, intense gripe against the heroes and a reason to stand by Eggman's side in helping him destroy the good guys and conquer the world. Instead, what we got is the Ultimate CryBaby: he goes into a mental breakdown and existential crisis... because Ow the Edge calls him weak? What is this, kindergarten? They could've thought of A THOUSAND more compelling backstories for Infinite to don the mask and Phantom Ruby and declare war to Sonic and his friends, and yet they decided to make him liek they did for whatever reason, and I truly hope that it wasn't in order to make him "family friendly" in a game that's supposed to narrate the events of a war where Sonic is taken out of the picture for the majority of it, by Infinite nonetheless! He could've been the next Mephiles, being the first guy who defeated Sonic instead of being the first who killed him, yet Sonic comes back and wipes the floor with Infinite not one but twice, then he gets taken out of the picture, just vanishing without a reason and is never mentioned again. Not a good way to handle what could've been an A tier villain. Oh well, at least his theme kinda slaps.
(Dis)Honorable mentions: The Deadly Six, Erazor Djinn
