Shema and Shameen have had many lives together, only realizing this after they both pass on, before joyfully agreeing to both being born into a new life and new ignorance of their connection, just so that they can experience each other anew, again.
But sometimes "together" doesn't mean right next to each other. In one life, Shema was a spirit medium and a minor magician, and Shameen, the spirit who chose her as his speaker.
Her spirit guide wound up being rather flirty and humorous, much to her amusement, though he had an irritating habit of hovering just at the edge of her spirit-awareness while she was being intimate with someone, just to annoy her.
Despite thinking him a pervert, they happily traveled her world together, helping the impoverished, performing minor miracle and magics, and facing difficulties and rewards in equal measure.
Many years later, as she was drawing labored breaths in her old age, he appeared before her for the first and last time, one hand outstretched, as he introduced himself by name and helped guide her to Beyond, where they both learned the joyful truth of their inseparability.
