Go Rest High On That Mountain (take two)
Your Wildest Dreams
So, I've been listening to the Pandora Traditional Folk channel lately, and this song came on.

I've heard it before, and jarred at the rhymes and meter. But I paid far more attention to the lyrics this time.

And I cried.

So, I decided I wanted to do my own take on the song, and searched YouTube for other artists who have done it, and encountered one done by Punch Brothers.

And I cried again.

So, I started with a backing track I purchased on http://karaoke-version.com and started coming up with ideas on how to bring the most out of the song in my style.

I borrowed a bit of the form from
The Grey Funnel Line as sung by The Beach Bears by MaxDeGroot
The Grey Funnel Line but using the storm sounds from
The Mingulay Boat Song as sung by The Beach Bears by MaxDeGroot
The Mingulay Boat Song, added in 29 ship bells (count them) and came up with this.

And I made myself cry.

Hopefully it effects you the same way.

Birch sings this. As it really fits his style.

I had this playing randomly on the radio when I was in Middle school, and I did a blink-blink at the lyrics and asked my father "Did I just hear Whitefish Bay?" because that's the city I was living in at the time. Come to find it was referencing a body of water, not the city I was in.
