Getting Stronger

I wanted to show the progress of this 9 x 12“ painting that I’m working up for FC.

I’m really hoping to have it completely done before Thursday, including a frame. But, I suspect that I’ll be taking my painting gear with me to finish it there, in San Jose.

Yeah, it’s a lot of brown and yellow ocher tones, but it really is beginning to develop nicely. Once it dries a little bit more, and I add a few more highlights, and accent the background to frame it, my hope is that it’ll really pop.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why the lines look a little bit fuzzy, well, I forgot to run an eraser across the graphite on the canvas board. So, when I did the initial wash, it smudged the lines however, that’s OK because those lines will get refined as the painting progresses.

Actually, I had used a graphite tracing paper to transfer the original pencil drawing to the canvas. When I applied the paint, it smudged it.

At the moment this painting remains as is. Work and family have kept me from updating this work. It’s not forgotten, just delayed.

Thanks for the compliment on how it looks though.
