"Taking practice too far"
With a minute of hyperventilating, and his lungs packed full of air, this lizard was absolutely determined to hold his breath for 6 minutes, and had no plan to resurface until then, not matter how desperate he got. As the minutes passed, his urge to breathe slowly grew, his lungs starting to burn, and although he still didn't surface, he squirmed in place and loudly whined, starting to rebreathe by puffing his cheeks in and out. He began feeling lightheaded, parts of him subtly tingling, but as his breathhold passed 5 and a half minutes, the urge to breathe slowly faded away, as did his vision... And, eventually, he lost consciousness, even with his eyes still open. He did reach his goal, but without someone to pull him out, he's not gonna be celebrating it...
