Nope, that was the inspiration for it. :p Since this is my setting n the crew consists of people working with critters , I prefer the more usual naming approach. Funny names would be the equivalent to a raccoon being a trash panda.

In my setting it's like if evolution took a weird turn n elements got into the mix. Same species can occur with different abilities and whatnot kinda like how in real life you have various bears, etc. adapted to their environment.
I am passionate about nature so it felt the best for me to keep things somewhat grounded , trying to keep a balance of real animals and current world but also a fun fictional spin with elements that play into the natural balance and everyday life.

I sometimes feel tempted to plan some world building stuff n showcasing animals, but it'll ultimately boil down to how the story plays out best. The main characters all are involved with wildlife in some ways to allow room for that so hopefully there'll be some opportunity for fun stuff like it!
Also thought of some regions just plain and simply being more vicious and less friendly or horny but that just won't suit the current story too well, suddenly going too dark. XD Would be interesting to have side stories exploring those places or their shift into peace. Like how that one hinted character, the ghost lion came to be.
