Like all large sailing ships, the Dancing Bear has decks high above the waterline to keep her from being swamped by storm waves. One can try fishing from such a vessel by throwing a trolling line over the side, but any large fish caught would break free when lifted out of the water. They’re just too heavy, and the hook tears out. The penzeloots have invented a way to deal with this sad state of affairs. First you hook a fish, if you can, then you jump in after it. You get a nice refreshing swim in any case, even if the fish gets away, and being speed-towed through the water is exhilarating.
