So couple things:

-its an alternate universe
-re telling of sonic 06 with changes
-sonic and amy are siblings, twins born at the same time
-There are humans but princess Elise is a hedgehog (or bird still deciding)
-No dr. eggman for the first installment
-Mephiles plays more a role in all stories
-Knuckles is no longer the last echidna
-Shade is Shadow's partner as both work for G.U.N.
-Sonic and amy's parents are dead, both grew up in an orphanage
-The super emeralds exist in this universe with chaos emeralds
-Tails is now 14 with a little 8 year old sister
-Sonic and Amy are 16
-Knuckles and Rouge are 18
-Shadow is over 50 because he does not age
