A thick poncho traps the heat from my slumber, still radiating from my body. A fresh, hot cup of coffee, the first of two I'll have this morning, warms both my belly and my hands. I've not yet changed the diaper around my waist. The plastic shell keeps its sodden lining insulated, still warm against my matted fur. I'll take it off just before I shower, when I'm within the steamy aura of my bathroom. But until then, it too is one of my essential morning comforts.
