Taking a play from the DnD book, Gods in this world have a portfolio. One of the thing's includes Maxim's God's portfolio is fabulous hair. A repost of the relevant lore:
Maxim's order spend the majority of their childhood locked up in their version of a convent. There they get a basic education with an emphasis on Ethics, Law, and Combat. Their God's got a penchant for beautiful hair, so hair care is part of the curriculum, and students of the order spend much time styling each other's beautiful locks in their off-time. They sit in long lines trying different hairstyles, as a common team building exercise and/or social event around campfires. After decades of fighting evil and retirement comes around, those who don't go back to teach new members of the order often become barbers and stylists.
