Part 21: how opposites meet - a Shadilver story
Silver and the girls were sitting outside of the ice cream shop on a brick wall, enjoying the ice creams they just bought. This new ice cream store had so many flavours that it was hard to choose, but all the more reason to come back again some other time. Silver went for melon and citrus which was really refreshing.
The girls were talking about some of the boys at college. They were giggling as they sum up the ones they like the most. It was obvious Sonic was very popular.
``He's just so kind and caring,'' Honey said.
``And hot,'' Sally added with a blush. The others started to giggle.
``What do you think Silver?'' Silver felt startled for being asked of their opinion.
``What? I feel a bit weird to think about it, Sonic is a good friend of mine,'' Silver replied.
``But is there someone you like?'' Nicole asked.
``I-i don't really know,'' Silver said a bit awkward.
``Well I see you hang out with Shadow often these days,'' Nicole added, Silver?s cheeks turned slightly red.
``OOEEEW!'' The girls said excited as they noticed Silver blushing, but Silver didn't really understand why it happened.
``OMG you like Shadow!'' Marine said out loud. Silver hissed at her.
``N-no, no not like that, h-he's just a f-friend.''
``Yeah right,'' Marine said with a wink. Silver's cheeks turned even redder and the girls started to giggle again.
``Shut up! I mean it!'' Silver threatened, the girls went silent but still had smiles planted on their faces.
``There is nothing to be ashamed of,'' Sally said. ``Shadow seems really cool, badass even. I get what you'd see in him.''
``I don't see anything in him,'' Silver said a bit annoyed.
``Silver you know we were all at the party last Friday?''
Silver looked a bit puzzled ``Yeah why?''
``You think we didn't notice you looking at Shadow and blushing all the time?''
``I did not.''
``Right?'' Sally took out her phone and showed Silver a video of the last song from the band's performance at the party. Silver shyly looked at theirself and saw how uncomfortable and awkward they looked. Shadow turned over to Silver and sang the chorus of the song. Silver saw them look at each other, they looked amazed but also really shy.
``This doesn't prove anything.''
``Just look,'' Sally urged. Silver rolled their eyes and continued watching the video. Even when Shadow wasn't looking at Silver, Silver just stared over at him. At the end of the song Shadow reached out his hand towards Silver, whose cheeks turned even redder as they took his hand. Silver didn't stop looking towards Shadow the whole time, as they were completely fascinated. The video stopped.
``And I think he likes you too,'' Sally said.
``Yeah as a friend,'' Silver replied, Sally shook her head.
``I don't think he only likes you as a friend, you should have seen him look at you when you were singing, and didn't you see him looking at you yesterday during art class when he was talking to Mrs Rose?''
Silver shook his head a bit shyly and disappointed. ``But if it's true...'' Silver started and paused for a moment, ``He would never fall for me if he found out what I am. I've seen the girl he has been with, she is confident, sexy, seductive and older. I'm not like that. I'm shy, awkward, clumsy and way too young. Besides, I can't believe Shadow would ever fall for a dude.''
Sally placed a hand on their shoulder to comfort them, ``People aren't always looking for the same type of person and secondly, nobody chooses who they fall in love with. And you said it yourself, you are not really a boy.''
``Well that's not how others see it.''
``Well we accepted you, right? Then so can others. Just give it some time,'' Marine said. Silver smiled for a bit, but also felt a bit ashamed of talking about this with them. Was it really that they liked Shadow? It would explain the feelings they had been having, but still. Could Silver really be with someone like Shadow.
``You know what helps when you are feeling down?'' Honey asked and Silver looked questioning. ``SHOPPING!''
The girls laughed, they all went into the mall as they had all finished their ice creams, Silver followed them still lost in thoughts.

They had went to three different stores already and the girls had spent a lot of money on shoes, make-up and now they wanted to look for some clothes. Silver hadn't bought anything but had a good time arguing over what products would fit the girls. They went over to a very expensive clothing shop for girls and boys. Silver watched the girls fit some clothes and they theirself also looked around and pulled out some clothes to give to the girls through the curtains. Marine was already done and had selected the items she wanted to buy.
Marine was looking at Silver who was browsing through the clothes to find a skirt for Sally in the right size. ``Hey Silver?'' She said. Silver made a noise to confirm that they was listening. ``Have you ever tried on girls clothes?''
``No,'' Silver replied quickly.
``Wouldn't you maybe want to try?'' She asked curious. Silver looked over at her a bit puzzled. ``Well I mean, as you are not really a boy, you know. Why should you always wear trousers and a shirt like the boys. Aren't you maybe curious?''
Silver felt a bit uncomfortable, ``W-well, maybe,'' they said timidly.
``Maybe you should try something on, you don't have to buy it, just see how it looks and feels.''
Silver went quiet for a bit, ``I don't know.''
``Just do it,'' She encouraged them Silver blushed a bit.
``Do what?'' Nicole asked who just came out of the fitting room getting in to the conversation, ``Can you zip up this dress for me?'' She asked Silver and looked at herself in the mirror. Silver helped her with the zipper.
``To try on some girls clothes.'' Marine answered.
``OMG are you going to try something on?! I want to help, I just saw something that would really fit you,'' she said excitedly.
Silver sighed, ``Well okay, but nothing too flamboyant.'' They said with a slight colour on their cheeks. To be honest they really were kind of curious how it would look.
Marine pushed them inside a fitting room, ``Just get undressed we will pass you some clothes to try on.'' Silver stood a bit nervous in the room but also smiled shyly at theirself in the mirror, they felt a bit excited for them to try out something different.
``What's your size?'' She asked through the curtain.
``32 I think.''
Silver started to underdress and Marine held out a skirt and a top through the curtains which Silver took. They tried it on.
``Do you wear the skirt over or under your tail?'' Silver asked from behind the curtain.
``Over. Under is much too revealing.'' Nicole replied. Silver looked at theirself in the mirror. The girls were waiting patiently outside the room, it was just so silent in there.
``Are you done Silver?''
``Yeah.''
``Come on, show us!''
``No.''
``Ow come on we want to see it,'' Silver popped their head trough the curtains, their face was a slight pink colour.
``Okay, but don't laugh,'' Silver said, they all nodded. Silver slowly came out from behind the curtains and looked very uncomfortable.
``Wow! Silver that really looks cute on you,'' one of the girls said, causing Silver to blush, ``What do you think Silver?''
``The skirt is much too short,'' Silver said while trying to pull it down.
``Not at all it looks kinda sexy, turn around,'' Silver slowly turned around to show them the rest.
``Silver you should try to put your tail down,'' Honey giggled a bit. Silver looked down over their shoulder and turned bright red and pulled the skirt down at the back, as it was revealing their tight boxers from behind. Silver quickly went behind the curtains.
``Don't be ashamed, you just have to practise on it,'' She spoke towards the curtains. ``Here, try this.'' They passed some other clothes through the curtains.
``I'm not going to wear a bra! I don't even have boobs,'' They spoke slightly offended.
``Here,'' Marine passed through some socks, ``Stuff them.'' Silver looked at the socks and started to feel slightly uncomfortable. Silver rolled their eyes and pushed the bra and socks away and tried on the other clothes. First trying on some hot pants and a crop top. Silver stepped out of the fitting room.
``I kinda like this,'' Silver said and looked at theirself in the mirror.
``Yeah it really suits you and the colours just make your eyes pop,'' Sally said.
``Why aren't you wearing the bra?'' Marine asked.
``I'm not going to do that.''
``Why not, I'm sure you're curious to see what it looks like,'' Silver rolled their eyes. ``Just put on the next outfit with the bra.'' Marine urged.
Silver went back in. The next outfit was a dress, which was fairly short and flowing when they turned around. It had a nice print with blue forget-me-nots, and a matching hair clip. Silver wore the bra with the socks underneath. They looked at them self and laughed, as it felt really weird.
``Are you wearing the bra this time?'' Marine asked.
``Yeah,'' They replied, ``It looks so weird.''
``Show us!'' They yelled and Silver felt a bit more confident after already trying out some outfits and went out.
``Ow my! That looks so cute,'' Sally almost screamed.
``You're really pulling this off Silver. Just walk around a bit.'' Silver laughed and walked around showing them all the sides in an extravagant way. Silver made a quick turn but tripped over one of their shoelaces. Silver yelped and closed their eyes but never felt a hit from the floor. But someone had caught them from the fall. Silver blinked their eyes confused and looked up and froze immediately.
``Hey,'' Shadow said, who was holding Silver up and looked down at them. ``You are so clumsy.'' Their cheeks turned so red that you would expect steam to escape from their ears. Silver quickly got up and ran into the fitting room.
The girls gave a painful look as it happened and Shadow followed Silver towards the fitting room where the girls were sitting. Marine quickly went inside the fitting room where Silver stood.
``What just happened?'' Shadow asked a bit confused. But nobody dared to answer.
``Just go talk to him,'' Marine encourage Silver.
``Not like this,'' Silver replied and pointed at the clothes they were wearing.
``Ow come on, you look really cute, but you should lose the boobs'' Marine helped removing the bra.
``Are you okay Silver?'' Shadow asked through the curtains.
``Y-yeah I'm fine,'' They replied with a high-pitched voice and immediately felt stupid as it sounded a bit lady like.
``Just be yourself,'' Marine whispered. Marine went through the curtains and looked at Shadow and smiled a bit nervous. ``Are you coming Silver?''
Silver looked in the mirror and fixed the dress and their quills with shaky hands.
Silver looked around the curtain and saw Shadow waiting. He was a bit dirty as he probably just was finished from working at the garage. There was a new rip in his jeans and he had some soot marks on his face. Shadow looked over.
``Please don't laugh, I never wear clothes like this,'' Silver said and came out from behind the curtain. Shadow looked over and looked them up and down, a smile formed on his face. He came a bit closer and leaned against the fitting room.
``You look good, you should wear it more often,'' Silver looked bashful at Shadow.
``Silver think about your tail,'' Marine whispered. Silver quickly pulled the dress down at the back and blushed.
``I-I'm not going to buy it, I was only wondering what it would look like. Besides it is far too expensive.''
``That's a shame,'' Shadow replied and looked a bit questioning to the girls who were following their conversation closely. They all quickly turned to look somewhere else.
``Did you just come from work?'' Silver asked trying to quickly move the conversation in another direction.
``Yeah I could leave earlier, so I thought I'd get some new trousers since I just ripped this one at work.''
``I think it looks cool like that,'' Silver said with a soft smile.
``Well these were my only good pare of jeans so I think I should have a decent one.''
``Yeah probably,'' Silver whispered. They fell silent for a moment as they just looked into each others eyes.
``Uhm Silver we have to go,'' Marine popped in the conversation.
``Hmm what?'' Silver asked a bit empty headed and kept on looking at Shadow without really listening what Marine was saying.
``We promised our parents to be home in time for dinner. So we are leaving,'' She lied since they had actually agreed to have dinner together at the mall, but it felt like a good time to leave them be.
``Yeah okay,'' Silver replied, not really paying attention. They left while looking back and giggling, they were so curious what would happen.
