For those out of the loop; if you grab Bartan's (the """bear""" here) tail and give it a tug, you can say a command word of sorts and cause his body to physically change. If you ask him to grow larger or smaller, for example, it will. If you want his boops to give people superpowers, it can. If you want him to change form, color, density, etc.

It just won't work mentally. So, if you want him to "Think like James Woods", it won't do anything. But "Sound like James Woods" that would be physical, changing his voicebox. Everything seems to only last a maximum of two days, unless stated otherwise- within reason. You cannot tell him to take a form that lacks a tail, borking the entire process. After two days, he'll return to the default form you see here.
