Something silly I drew after I finished preparing for this winter and getting some stuff I needed. Now I can sit and and focus on drawing whatever comes to my mind.
There is some speculation that this winter will see global famine due to multiple factors that impact the trade of staple foods such as Rice and Wheat along with important ingredients in fertilizers such as Phosphorus, Nitrogen, and Potash. The fertilizer is the important one since you can just add more of one ingredient to make up for another. The ratio is inflexible. Let's also not forget fuel.
America is predicted to suffer the least and might start mining phosphorus and potash for export to Europe. However, those mines will most likely take a few years to get off the ground.
Sub-Saharan Africa is predicted to suffer the most since it's nation are among the biggest importers of foods and fertilizers. Very possible to see various nations collapse in the region.
Europe will suffer hard since its main source of wheat and grains are Russia and Ukraine. With the trade embargos and Ukraine's primary wheat fields either in a war zone or under Russian occupation, Europe is going to suffer until America can make up for it.
There's more but let's just say it's not looking pretty.

If you follow the trends to their natural conclusion, that is the most likely result.
The safest place to be right now is South America, namely the central regions of Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Mild weather, fertile soil, cheap vegetables and grain, no reliance on oil-based fuel for electricity (it's hydroelectric), no need for heating, relatively low population and low cost of living compared to other nations.
Push comes to shove, I'd be looking into buying land down there.

I'm lucky to live in area where I will be mostly fine. It might be a bit colder in winter, but that's the only problem. I have access to fresh water, know where to get some food and entire area used to be just a small village when I was a child. But those people in big cities are going to have a really hard time if there will be shortages this or next year.

You are very fortunate. My best friend in England is very lucky he lives in the middle of nowhere, next to a moor, where the water and soil are clean and he can get firewood ten yards from his house. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near London when the proverbial turd hits the proverbial fan.

I wouldn't worry about fertilizer. Even with an insufficient supply of petroleum, there is more than enough manure being produced by the meat industry to make up for it. It will just make food a lot more expensive, since, ironically enough, cow shit is more expensive than oil is. That's the way with famines in the industrialized world, though--they're never about a lack of production, just a lack of distribution.

I see something like that as a possibility. And while in real life I didn't bulid secret prepper bunker, I made sure to buy some extra food with a long shelf life. The worst places to be, no matter where in the world you are, will be large cities. I don't live in one, so I don't need to worry that much, but if shit really hits the fan a lot of people will experience very "interesting times".
