“Come on Silver, don’t be so childish,” Blaze said annoyed and tugged his arm as she wanted him to speed up a bit. They both walked the streets, the weather was beautiful, the sun was shining and it felt pretty warm outside. Blaze was wearing a simple but beautiful red dress that really complimented her curves. She was really excited for today but Silver wasn’t really enthusiastic about what she had planned for the day.
“Well that’s what you get for forcing me to this stupid event,” Silver said who walked slowly after her. He tugged the bowtie Blaze did put around his neck earlier, but it did feel far to tight.
Blaze slapped his hand, “Leave it,” she said stern, “It looks cute like that.”
Silver rolled his eyes, “Ugh, I hate my life.”
“Just stop nagging, it will be fun, I’m sure of it.”
“That’s what she said.”
“Are you going to be a pain in the ass all day?” Blaze asked frustrated.
“That’s what you get when you force me to come along,” Silver said casually while shrugging his shoulders.
“With that attitude I don’t think you will take home a girl today.”
“I told you before and I say it again, ‘I don’t want to come with you to go speed dating ’,” Silver repeated as he told her the same a week ago, “and here we are,” Silver moaned annoyed.
Blaze rolled her eyes, “I’m sure you don’t want to be alone for the rest of your life.”
“Do you see this?” Silver said with a bright smile on his face, “This is me being happy, all alone, all by myself.” His expression changed and he frowned angry, “and this is me, while being forced to speeddate."
Blaze rolled her eyes again.
“When will you finally understand that not everyone needs a partner to be happy in life,” Silver snapped.
She ignored his remark and continued walking to the café where the event would take place. She stood in front of the door with her arms folded, she looked at Silver and towards the doorknob. Silver looked at her questionable as she again looked at Silver with a stern look and nodded towards the doorknob.
“Oh!” Silver said as he understood, he exaggerated as he took the knob and bowed down deep as he opened the door. “Please, please come in my beautiful princess,” Silver said with a forced smile.
She rolled her eyes but walked inside, “I really hope you would behave more your age towards your girlfriend, IF you will ever have one.”
“And I hope, my future girlfriend won’t force me to any speeddate events,” Silver said as he closed the door behind him.
Blaze facepalmed, “Why would a girlfriend ever bring you speed dating when you already have each other?”
“Hehe, oh yeah, good point,” Silver said with a chuckle.
“So more the reason for you to bring someone home tonight, as there is another speed dating event next week on the other side of town, and I need you to come with if I don’t have any luck today.”
Silver sighed heavily as they made their way to the reception to register.
_________
“This is going to be fun!” Sonic said enthusiastic to his rival, “I bet there will be more girls interested to talk to me than to you,” he said with a defiant grin to try and get under his skin.
“Yep, probably,” Shadow responded as he couldn’t care less. He walked after his hyper rival with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket.
_________
After Silver and Blaze registered the lady behind the counted past them an ‘Hello, I’m …. and I’m …..-’ sticker, “Here you can write your names and profession,” she said. Blaze eagerly took the pen and wrote her name and “Nurse,” the the profession part. She passed the pen to Silver and carefully placed the sticker on her chest.
Silver took the pen and frowned as he looked at the sticker. A naughty grin appeared on his face.
He laid down the pen and removed the sticker from the paper and sticked it on his white shirt. He smiled proudly at Blaze who read the sticker and rolled her eyes again. “You’re so childish.”
“Well I’m not lying,” he said and looked at the sticker which read, ‘Hello, I’m Hungry and I’m Forced to be here.’ Silver chuckled at his own joke and followed Blaze to the café where the event would take place. It was pretty busy, as the café was filled with pretty good looking people. Silver looked around a little nervous as they all looked so grown up and serious. “This is going to be a nightmare,” he whispered.
_________
“Ugh this is going to be a nightmare,” Shadow sighed as they reached the building.
“Oh, don’t you worry,” Sonic said to make him feel better, “I’m sure one girl will be willing to date you, you’re a good looking guy, so it will be fine.”
“It aren’t my looks I worry about,” he said, “it’s more the fact that I don’t want to start dating. Girls only make life a living hell.”
Sonic rolled his eyes, “With that attitude I don’t think you will have to worry about that. With that attitude I don’t think anyone would want to date you.”
“Let’s hope so,” Shadow said with a grin. Sonic sighed annoyed as he opened the door and walked into the building.
“Here you go,” the woman behind the counter said as they registered and passed them the name tags and a pen, “please write down your name and profession,” she said with a sweet smile.
Sonic took the pen and wrote down, ‘Hello, I’m Sonic and I’m Your local hero ;).’ He smiled excited as he placed the sticker on his chest. He looked at Shadow who also removed the sticker from the paper and placed it on his jacket.
“Sonic read the sticker and facepalmed, “You’re not even going to try and be nice?”
“Nope,” Shadow only answered.
“Oh! Come on they are going to start,” Sonic said excitedly as he could hear someone speak through a microphone.
_________
“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I really hope you all are as excited as I’m for the day.”
“Hey Blaze,” Silver whispered but she ignored him as she was listening.
“…and hopefully..”
“Blaze.”
“…a lot of you will leave afterwards…”
“Blaze.”
“…With a lovely date.”
“Hey Blaze.”
“WHAT!” Blaze whispered frustrated and turned his direction.
“Did you know these bar stools can rotate?” He said with a bright smile as he pushed himself from the bar and spun around as he wasn’t listening at all.
Blaze stopped his stool from spinning, “SERIOUSLY! If you keep on acting this way I won’t take you with me next time!”
“Really!?” Silver said with a surprised and excited smile.
“No, I was just kidding.”
“Arrrgh!” Silver grunted frustrated.
“…So let’s get started!” the woman holding the microphone said and all the men stood up.
“What do we need to do?” Siler asked confused.
Blaze hit the the back of his head, “If you were paying attention you would have known.”
“OUCH!” He said and rubbed the back of his head.
“Don’t be such a wuss and go take a seat at one of the tables,” she said and pushed him off of the stool and towards the middle of the café where the separated tables stood. Silver tripped a little clumsy and took his place at one of the tables and looked awkwardly around.
_________
Shadow sat down with an elbow on the table and his head resting in his hand.
“Maybe sit up straight and be more active?” Sonic suggested.
“Mayke shut your mouth and go away,” Shadow grunted.
As all the men were sitting at a table a white hedgehog tumbled on his feet and looked a little awkward around while taking a seat, Shadow chuckled, “What an idiot.”
A beep went off to signal the women it was time to take a seat across one of the men.
_________
Silver leaned back in his seat with his arms folded. He saw the women taking their seats and he looked at the woman who took the seat opposite from him at the table.
“Hello my name is Amy,” she said excitedly with a high pitch voice.
“Hi,” Silver said a little awkwardly and squinted his eyes because of the too pink colour of her fur, it made him think about cotton candy and already started to hurt his teeth. From the corner of his eye he saw Blaze talking excitedly to the man in front of her.
“So what’s your name?” Amy asked and Silver pointed to the sticker on his chest.
Amy sighed annoyed after reading his tag. Silver sighed a little awkward, “Sorry but I’m not here to find a partner.”
“Why are you here here for then?”
“To keep my sister happy.”
Blaze giggled loudly at something the guy in front of her said.
“That’s her fake laugh!” Silver said loudly towards the guy which Blaze was walking with.
“SHUT UP, SILVER!” Blaze grunted frustrated as she slammed her fist on the table and a little flame escaped her fist as she did.
“Hehe, yeah that’s the sister I know,” Silver chuckled and Blaze looked angry at him, who sticked out his tongue at her. “At least I’m trying to be nice,” she snapped.
“At least I do not force my sister to go anywhere she doesn’t want to go too.”
“At least I won’t die alone like you!”
“I would maybe die alone, but I would be happy!”
Blaze rolled her eyes at him and turned back to the man in front of her, who did look a little afraid towards her. “Don’t mind my dickhead of a brother.”
The man looked around towards Silver. “It’s Mr Dickhead for you,” he chuckled. Blaze rolled her eyes and so did the the pink hedgehog in front of him.
_________
Sonic casually sat back in his chair and talked animated to the woman in front of him who listened interested. The woman in front of Shadow also listened interested as Shadow had only pointed to his name tag when the woman had sat down. After she felt annoyed and didn’t feel like talking to him, which was a relief for Shadow.
_________
“I don’t get it,” an young looking girl in front of Silver said as she read his name tag. “Is your name really ‘Hungry’?”
“Yeah my dad was just really hungry when they got me and accidentally wrote my name wrong on the birth certificate,” he said sarcastically.
“Oh! That’s so sad!”
Silver facepalmed at her naive remark.
_________
“Wow you’re quite handsome,” a white female bat in front of Shadow complimented him with a seductive voice.
Shadow again pointed to his sticker which read, ‘Hello, I’m Bored and I’m Not interested.’
She leaned forward, under the table her hand softly stroked his thigh and looked seductive into his eyes, “Maybe I could change your mind,” she said with a grin and bit her lip.
Shadow looked her up and down, he leaned forward and looked seductive into her eyes, “I doubt that,” he whispered.
She looked offended at her and slept him in the face, “jerk!” she stood up and angrily walked away.
“Wow! you’re on a roll Shadow, that’s the fifth woman you pissed off,” Sonic said as he shook his head in disbelieve.
“Looks like I’m winning,” he said with a grin.
_________
“Uhm, yeah yeah,” Silver said absentmindedly and looked around distracted as the woman in front of him just kept on talking about her ex.
“… He just wouldn’t listen! I’m so looking for a man who understands me,” she moaned.
“Tss ugh, yeah man right?” Silver said bored and looked too see who Blaze was talking.
“… He just constantly stared to other girls and…” she looked at him as she noticed he wasn’t actually listening. She followed his gaze and noticed he was looking at Blaze, she angrily stood up and splashed her drink into Silver’s face.
“WHAT THE…!” Silver shouted.
“You guys are all the same!” she said as she walked away from the table.
“That’s my sister!” Silver said in his defence but she wasn’t listening. “Ugh,” Silver said and wiped his face with the sleeve of his shirt.
_________
Sonic chuckled as he saw how the white hedgehog got a drink splashed in his face, “Seems like you have some competition,” he said to Shadow, they both watched as the woman walked away.
Shadow chuckled as he saw the white hedgehog slamming his head on the table frustrated.
The beeper went off again and the women changed seats again.
_________
Silver didn’t look up in the hope the next lady would just move on, but she went to sit opposite from him, “You’re so sad.” Silver quickly looked up as Blaze sat in front of him. She rolled her eyes. “You could at least try to have some fun. I’m sure there is someone here for you. I really did have some nice conversations.”
“I didn’t want to come here in the first place. You know how I get when I get forced to do something I don’t wanna.”
“Silver it’s time for you to grow up. You do have social skills, just try to have some fun and promise me to at least act nice to the next person you talk to, okay?" she suggested as she felt concerned for him.
Silver sighed deeply, “Well okay, but only if I don’t have to come along the next time, deal?”
“Deal,” Blaze agreed with a stratified smile.
The beeper went of again and the woman took hold of the microphone. “It’s time for a short break everyone, let’s have a drink and we will continue later with the man changing seats next.”
Silver quickly stood up, “Oh what a shame,” he said with a grin towards Blaze. “Me socialising has to wait a little longer.”
Blaze sighed as Silver sped off and took a seat at the bar, he ordered a beer and paid for it. He rested his head on the counter to make sure he didn’t have to socialise with anyone. Someone sat on the stool next to him, Silver could feel the other watching him, “Not interested,” Silver said emotionless.
“How did you know?” a deep voice spoke amused.
Silver looked up confused and looked at a dark hedgehog who grinned at him. He pointed at his sticker to explain his comment. Silver’s eyes moved down to the name tag and suppressed a smile, “That’s a good one,” he said with a grin, “What do you think of mine?” he said and showed his sticker.
Shadow chuckled,” Nice, but who forced you?”
“My sister,” Silver said and pointed at the back where Blaze was talking with a tall man. “The purple cat, she can be quite annoying, but she’s very sweet. Don’t tell her I said that.”
“I wouldn’t dare. I haven’t talked with her yet,” Shadow said who looked towards Blaze.
“But why are you here? According to your name tag I don’t think you’re here on your own free will?”
The dark hedgehog sighed annoyed, “I had to come along, my friend Sonic, dragged me along.” he said and pointed to the blue friend who was talking with the too pink hedgehog lady.
Silver laughed, “You were forced too?”
“Yep,” the dark one said and took a sip from his beer. “I hate these kind of things.”
“Me too,” Silver said and took a sip of his beer.
“I just really like to be alone.”
“THAT’S WHAT I ALWAY SAY!” Silver said surprised.
“Well then cheers to that,” the dark hedgehog said and raised his glass, “to be happy on our own.”
Silver clinked his glass, “For ever and ever,” he added with a chuckle.
They both drank their beers and placed the empty glasses on the counter.
“Two more please,” the dark one ordered, Silver took his wallet out of his back pocket to pay his share, “No, no it’s on me,” he said as he rejected for Silver to pay for it.
“Oh! Thanks,” Silver said with a smile and put his wallet back in his pocket. At the moment they clinked their glasses again the beeper went off again. Silver sighed frustrated and watched as the women took their seats.
“Come on,” the dark hedgehog said as it was time for the men to take their seats. The both took their beers and Silver followed him to the last row of tables. They sat down in front of two women who looked excited but as soon as they sat down the two hedgehogs immediately turned to each other and continued their conversation.
“So what is it you actually do except for being hungry and forced to be here?” The dark one asked interested.
“I’m a tailor in the making,” Silver said proudly.
“Oh really? That’s interesting so still studying?”
“My last year,” Silver answered. “And how about you?” he asked and took another sip from his beer.
“I’m a-“ the dark hedgehog started but got interrupted.
The women in front of them cleared their throats and looked annoyed to them.
“What?” Silver said, “don’t you see we are talking?”
“The woman in front of him stood up and took her drink and splashed it in his face before leaving.
“Okay that one I apparently did deserve,” Silver said, he licked his lips and looked surprised at the glass, “Oeh! Was that an Appletini?”
The dark hedgehog chuckled, “I think so.”
“Hehe totally worth it,” he said and cleaned himself with his sleeve, which was already soaked from the last time.
“Here,” the dark one said and took a cloth from his inner pocket and passed it to him.
The woman in front of the dark hedgehog stood up frustrated as she was fed up of being ignored, “You two are such jerks,” she said and also splashed her drink in their direction.
The dark hedgehog looked a little startled and Silver laughed as he gave the soaked cloth back to him, “I think you need it more than I do.”
Shadow looked to the cloth as it was completely soaked and useless to dry yourself of with. He started to laugh and squeezed the cloth dry. Another beep was heard but to be safe the two hedgehogs stayed where they were to not bother anyone else.
“So what is it you do?” Silver asked as they both cleaned up a bit.
“I’m a musician.”
“Really? Wow that’s so cool!” Silver spoke amazed, “What is it you play?” he asked excitedly.
“Guitar, I’m in a rockband.”
“Wow,” Silver said impressed.
“Are you musical?” the dark one asked interested.
“Well I’m a professional shower singer.”
The dark hedgehog chuckled, “I would love to see that…” his eyes looked a little shocked, “…hear that,” he quickly corrected himself.
“Believe me, you don’t,” Silver laughed.
They both had a long and nice talk and laughed loudly as they had such a good time talking to each other.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Blaze asked angry as she came over as they were far too happy and far too loud in her opinion. Next to that they haven’t changed seats for a couple round already.
“What’s wrong now?” Silver asked annoyed, “you said I needed to socialise with the next person and that’s what I’m doing.”
“This is not what I ment! You should be talking to one of the women and besides you haven’t switched places in ages,” she complained.
There was another beep. The two hedgehogs looked at each other, the dark one nodded. They both stood up and switched seats. Silver grinned at Blaze, “Now happy?”
Blaze grunted and rolled her eyes, “You’re supposed to talk with the women!”
“You’re really asking to much of me sis. Besided I didn’t want to come here. I just wanted to go and play lasertag.”
“You’re so childish!” Blaze shouted angry.
“Hey Hungry?” The dark one said. Silver looked confused in his direction, “That’s your name right?” he asked and pointed to the name tag.
“Oh yeah, Hungry AKA Mr dickhead, but most people call me Silver.”
“Well okay, Silver,” he said with a smile, “Wanna ditch this place a play some lasertag?”
Silver looked startled at him and smiled, “I would love too!”
The both stood up from their seats.
“You can’t just leave like that, you were supposed to take out one of the women after today,” Blaze said angry.
Silver looked at Blaze and to the dark hedgehog as he thought of something. “Now that I think of it… Why does is have to be a woman? I would rather go with him,” he said and pointed to the dark hedgehog.
Blaze’s jaw dropped as the dark one held out an arm for Silver too hook into, “My lord?” he said.
Silver chuckled and hooked his arm, “My lord,” he replied with a big smile. They both turned around and walked off. Blaze was completely blown away and could still hear them talk as they left.
“So what’s your actual name?” silver asked.
“Bored, Ultimate Life Form, but most people call me Shadow.”
“Wow, that sounds so mysterious,” Silver chuckled, “So ‘Ultimate Life Form’? What’s that all about?” he asked as they turned the corner and moved away from Blaze’s sight.
The End
