Man, I miss original Nickelodeon cartoons like Rugrats. Didn't care so much for All Grown Up, but it was still a lot better than most of the shows you see today. While a good show in its own right, I will forever blame Spongebob for the demise of Rugrats.

Well, that may be one reason, but I think Rugrats started running into a seasonal rot like some shows that go on for as long as t had. It kind of lost its bit of adult edge when characters like Dil and Kimi (even though I do like Kimi)

That might be true and I can't prove doubt, but I did see somewhere talking about the Rugrats and how Nickelodeon was during that time and if my memory serves me, Rugrats would have lasted a few seasons longer (maybe even more) if Nickelodeon paid them mind while shows like Spongebob was right coming out.
I believe that Nickelodeon favored Spongebob more than Rugrats and did all that they could to watch Spongebob grow. This could have assisted in the downfall of Rugrats (I think so). Take a look at the timelines of Rugrats and Spongebob and you'll see hints to what I'm talking about. All Grown Up was probably the creator's way of trying to salvage things.
I also know of a spinoff involving Suzie and Angelica, but we don't speak of such monstrosities anymore.

They certainly did take a different turn in the 2000s. You had to advent of Flash bringing some of the quality down in terms of animation, but there were still some pretty good shows. The 2010s managed to get better in the early years but then dropped hard off a clip by the mid/late 2010s

Man, I remember coming home from school and looking forward to shows like Hey Arnold and Rugrats. Let's not forget the live action shows like Adventures of Pete and Pete, Salute your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark, etc...
Damn I miss those days... damn I'm getting old lol.

I can't remember too many of the cartoons I watched as a kid since I did other things too, but when I did, I recall shows like Rugrats, Dexter's Laboratory, Ed Edd and Eddy, Samurai Jack, Powerpuff Girls, and such, I know the other shows were Cartoon Network, but that was the channel I watched the most in the late 90s early 2000s. Rugrats was probably the only show that interested me from that network. The other stuff I didn't get into for some reason.

Man, we can spend all night going through the shows that made our childhood in the 90s. I remember those shows as well. I also remember Saturday morning cartoons and after school cartoon in the early 90s like Tiny Toons, the original Anamaniacs, Tazmania, etc.
They really need to relinquish the licenses for most of those shows and create a "flashback 90s" channel that shows cartoons and life action shows from that time. We can't be the only ones that long for those times again... if not just to bring us back to a simpler time.

As much as I hate Disney now, I wouldn't mind if they tried something like Pluto TV does and have a sort of channel system on Disney Plus that allows you to watch the old Disney Afternoon cartoons as if they were played on Toon Disney back in the day. I love those old wacky bumpers from the channel
What bothers me is that so many kids are growing up without experiencing these wonderful creations. There's really no such thing as Saturday morning cartoons anymore. It's all on the internet now, but that gets obscured by everything else going on. : /

Not to mention all the reboots and sequels that keep getting made of these shows that can't even hold a candle to the original. You get your occasional DuckTales r2017 which was pretty good, but for one of those, you get a
Teen Titans Go! Powerpuff Girls 2016 Rainbow Brite 2014 Rugrats 2021 Thundercats Roar Masters of the Universe: Revelations (So much potential) She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Blues Clues & You (They're the same god damn stories of the original)
and so on
