Character Sheet for Valerie
Species
Canine, dog, german spitz/gray wolf mix
Character Description
Valerie is a cute, young, spunky girl who is in the Tail Scouts. She'll never turn down a challenge, even if she's internally panicking and nervous. As Stephanie's best friend, the two are nearly always together. She's a smart girl, and as you can see from how she writes her name, kind of a nerd. She often knows some things even adults don't know, as once she is interested in something, she pursues that subject in an attempt to learn more due to her curiosity and passion. This has led her to be academically near the top of her class, often helping Steph with her homework.
Personality
Valerie is a sporty and spunky girl, always ready for adventure and playing with her friends. She's not afraid to play in the mud with the boys, or show them up in sports or other activities. Outwardly, she always wants to present herself as capable and unstoppable, especially in front of her best friend Stephanie, who looks up to her despite them being the same age. This leads to Valerie occasionally telling tall tales or lying about how experienced she is at something to maintain her air of superiority and experience.
However, she's still a kid, so is shy and nervous deep down, doing her best to put on a facade in front of her friends or others.

Background/History
Valerie has always been an unstoppable force of curiosity and energy even when she was younger. Her single mom Lena did her best to keep Valerie entertained and occupied, but was beyond relieved when school started and could get a break. Valerie enlisted in the Tail Scouts, but was still new, so didn't have any friends. That didn't bother her much, but when she didn't follow instructions, instead opting to do things her own way, she got teased by the other scouts who assumed she was just stupid.
There was one scout however who took it a different way. She saw a new student who might need help. Stephanie Vulpesson, a young fox girl who was the most decorated scout in class, walked over to Valerie and offered her assistance. However upon seeing that Valerie understood the assignment, but was instead choosing a different, more creative and even better design for building a wood structure for a fire, she knew this new girl was not only smart, but that they had a lot in common. Introducing herself, they shook hands with a smile and laughter.
Over the years, the pair were inseparable, which overjoyed her mother who, while supportive and always there for both of the girls, was happy that they could entertain themselves while she was writing her novels. One evening, while attending a camping trip with the Tail Scouts, Val and Steph got lost in the woods. While they were both scared, Valerie did her best to put on a brave face and act like nothing was wrong, like she knew exactly what they were doing. Night began to fall, and a storm was starting up, so the pair took shelter in a nearby cave.
However, a landslide caused a huge rock to block the cave entrance, trapping the girls inside. A volunteer scout leader, a red panda, was searching for the girls nearby, and was able to hear their muffled cries for help. The volunteer first looked around to make sure no one was watching, and then easily pushed the boulder aside without effort, freeing the girls. The red panda introduced herself as Rin, and that she'd take the girls back to the group. Stephanie ran over to Rin, hugging her and sobbing into her chest, while Valerie who was finally able to let go of her tough girl facade broke down crying and hugged Rin as well.
Rin calmed the two girls, patting Valerie's head and saying she did a great job, and that they were both very brave. Valerie's mother, Lena approached soon after, clutching both of the girls in her arms, thankful tears forming on her cheeks despite the rain. The girls told Valerie's mother what happend, and how 'Aunt Rin' saved them. Rin stammered out that the girls were exaggerating, but Lena cut Rin off by hugging her. Valerie begged her mom to let Rin come over sometime so she could show her her room, and as Rin was politely turning her down, Lena insisted, saying how she'd hate to separate them from their 'Aunt Rin,' and that she'd love having a capable babysitter, to which Rin happily accepted, clearly having grown attached to the pair.
From that point on, Rin was always there to take the girls on trips, watch after them during Tail Scout activities, or hang out with Valerie's mother while the children played, becoming another positive role model in their lives.
