Grayson and his mother spent the afternoon at the pumpkin patch. It was just after Halloween and Grayson took his plastic toy sword from his pirate costume everywhere with him on the condition that he didn't hit anyone or anything with it.
On display near the entrance was the farm's prize pumpkin. Grayson saw the large pumpkin and thought it would be a good idea to try and carve a face in it like a jack-o-lantern. He slipped away from him mother and plunged the toy sword into the heart of the pumpkin. The farmers and Grayson's mother were not pleased. Grayson's mother took him around the corner to the nearest bale of hay, laid him over her lap, and wore his little hinie out for running off and ruining that pumpkin.
After the spanking, Helga offered to paid for the damages and apologized on her son's behalf. The farmers were kind and decided that justice had been served and didn't make them pay for it on account it had already won the contest before Grayson stabbed it. Helga then led her sniffling tot out of the pumpkin patch and straight home for an early bedtime.
