Forrtune's always had a competitive streak against Merrit. He has never managed to beat in messing contest (Merrit hadn't even notice thy were competiting. He just assumed forrtune loses control after he does.) However they're both on equal footing as eevees, and Forrtune's taking his advantage to finally beat him, or maybe just tie with him.
