At the north of Anthroriakos, right next to the border with Thedera, you can find a small town called Lovrat. It's surrounded by marshes and a cemetery, whom give it a natural creepy atmosphere on the outside, despite being warm and comfy on the inside. The Silvens who lives there are quite superstitious and some of the culture of the neighbor country had bleed into theirs. You can find most of the inhabitants of Lovrat wearing particular disguises, specially the older people who had spent all of their lives there. This makes this agricultural town a great tourist magnet since there's no other place in the world with such culture, and the fact that their major element of production are pumpkins whom, being the Silvens as they are, had been grew gigantic and carved to be used as houses besides the traditional techniques that involved trees.
The zone where Lovrat has been settled two hundred years ago has a grim story, one of violence and death that it's in great part the reason of the inhabitants fears and beliefs. Near the end of the Twenty Years War between Anthroriakos and Firanosis, conflict that helped both nations to insanely improve their technologies and social structures, Silvens and Albameses realized that now they had more power than the neighbors Serpens kingdoms. Serpens had been taking advantage of their magic capacities, using them against the people from Anthroriakos and Firanosis to get them for slave labor for ages and ages. Nevertheless, due to a number of factors, now the power scale was tipped to the non magic societies, and they weren't about to leave it to waste, so they started to violently push back the Serpen incursions, and after that, started to take their territory.
Most of the initial clashes between Serpens and Silvens were against mercenaries, poachers and militia since all towns had already been evacuated by the time Anthroriakos military forces arrived at them. Lovrat's current location was the first exception of three massacres where a lot of innocent people was killed collaterally, and it also was the reason why Silvens and Albameses decided to stop with the attacks and reach to an agreement with Thedera.
Sixteen years later, Lovrat is founded near the old battlegrounds. In Thedera, the current Serpen Kindom, the most popular religion are the Holdbedjare, and one of their beliefs is that when a Serpen dies before its time, in a violent and sudden way, its soul gets corrupted and it's not able to find Skuraldrorm to reach to the afterlife. These wraiths are called Kralnad and they need the help of the living to find the rising sun. When a great number of Kralnad are found in a place, like the aftermath of a great battle, they are also helped by the Ormset, that are huge serpents with a ship on their backs that they use to take them to Skuraldrorm. When the amount of Kralnad is to big, and the rage and hate that surround the Ormset overwhelm them, they can become corrupted themselves, turning into Ormnad. The Ormnad ends up feeding the negative emotion of the Kralnad, turning them into even more dangerous creatures, who attack anything alive in sight.
Since near Lovrat it was never celebrated a ritual to guide the Kralnad, it's believed by the Silvens, that they are stalked by them, and by an Ormnad itself. For this reason is that they bury their dead surrounding the town, so the spirits of their ancestors protects the place against the Serpen demons. They also disguise themselves as Kralnad to confuse any evil spirit that is able to pass through the cemetery and find a way into the town.

I wrote quite a wall of text XD dunno if anyone is reading all of that (though I hope so), but If anyone's interest is picked, it's all part of the same universe as Ánima's comic, and both Deimina and Linderhelm are Holbedjare themselves (that's why they have the pronouns Jarna and Blodhus).
I'm posting this image even if I think It requires more work, there are stuff whose proportions are not all good and, as always, my vanishing point technique is awful, but it's slowly improving.
