I don't mind if someone is speaking a different language in a film/video game, but it should at the very least provide some sort of decent translation so I wouldn't have to go through different hoops to understand what they're saying.

The characters on the TV belong to ~The-Shadow-of-Light (https://www.furaffinity.net/user/the-shadow-of-light/). I don't know where exactly I got the models, but they are publicy available and free to use.

That's why I love getting my BluRay discs from Japan - if it says subtitles in Thai, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, English, and English SDH I'd rarely see [Speaking in Foreign Language]. It'd normally say [In English: Yo' mama].

Funniest goof up I ever saw was a DVD in which if you had the subtitles off, they spoke a foreign language, but if you turned on the subtitles, you got english voices, but foreign subtitles.

One show I watched switched between 'gibberish'. 'speaking foreign language' and 'speaking native language' over the course of an episode

I've been seeing this a lot in Youtube videos lately.  Instead of translating the words, they just put "[speaking in a foreign language]" there instead.  Bothers me because in older movies you'd have a similar thing happening where there wouldn't be any subtitles at all but then another character would translate it in-story so that bystanders (and by extension the audience) would understand what was being said.  But when it happens on Youtube there is no such exposition, it's just the foreign spoken language and the bracketed subtitle shit.

I think I heard rumours that after 2010s all DVDs subtitles production have gone lazy due to the text workers just can’t be bothered to subtitle all the words from hearing to type and even on “foreign languages” on English dubs of the film/show “lazily” say “speaks in foreign language”

Kinda ruins the learning outcomes of reading the other languages in an English speaking film/show and vice versa

Technically if the subtitles are pulling that off- You're not supposed to understand what they're saying. Which can, also, be in and of itself very frustrating.
