My guess is he probably got hurt in the ring. Tends to happen with fighters and now he can't fight. But he's still no slouch, ergo working as a bouncer. Maybe even closer to home so he can see his daughter more often. Maybe even his son if he ended up having one with Maggie. =P Can even picture this being several years later and maybe he's working as a bouncer part time, alongside coaching his son or daughter.
