So, I've been in a Rupert Bear mood lately watching the show and such, and I felt like drawing some more of this little cutie. Rupert has a friend named Bill who has a baby brother named Toby and I drew a few different poses of him doing some cute things and different expressions. Also, he isn't depicted in a diaper in the show, so I put him in one. A cloth one considering the time the comics and the series took place in.
Edward: What did he say? Bill: He says "he wishes to go.....peepee" Toby: Toby good boy! ^^ Edward: Why didn't you get him to do that before you left the house?
Ah yes, the one with this line Edward: What did he say? Bill: He says "he wishes to go.....peepee"
I think that was the case for potty training babies from a young age. Even if it was something as simple as Toby telling his big brother that he needed to go so that Bill could help him. Cloth nappy material, especially the really absorbent and comfy sort, wasn't cheap to come by like disposables are now. Hence why they washed and reused them regularly.
BTW, rewatching that scene again brought back so many memories. I forgot how lovely Bill and Toby's brotherly bond was.

Yea, the scene where Bill, at first scolds him, turns into relief when he hugs Toby close to him. You can even see Bill's expression change from mad, to worried and then to happy as he hugs him, such a sweet little touch.
Toby: You little Rascal! If you ever run off again, I'll....(hugs him close)
