, who had an interesting question regarding the writing craft.

Namely: How does one go about writing a sexual "undercurrent" in a work of fiction - spurring sexual fantasies in the reader, while staying clear of any overt sexual themes.

This is perhaps an overly specific exercise in itself, yet understanding how to do this would sharpen the pen of any writer.

We've chosen to relay the correspondance HERE, as it should be an interesting read to some of you.

I cannot promise to give as thorough an answer to any question landing in my inbox, but I will certainly not discourage anyone from writing me in this manner.

Examining the language of any tawdry romance novel for such scenes should also work - they generally keep things steamy without going full 451.

I'll have to give this a read later, once my coffee kicks in, but subtlety in writing can be tricky to nail down. Every reader and writer are very different, so what works for one might not work for another, and you'll get pretty vast differences in responses. The way someone/something moves tends to get a pretty good reaction. Instead of walking across a room, they can glide smoothly, with a sway of the hips, a flick or swish of the tail. Glances that trail down just a little for a moment before flicking back up to meet the gaze of another. I find stuff like that works for me. Oversimplification here, of course. I'm not writing a novella in someone's comments section. lol
