For these blessings we pray before we leave every night
Speed of the free-tailed, the fastest creature in level flight
Longevity of the myotis, who live long for beings so small
Might of the flying fox, the largest species of us all
Intellect of the rousette, master of navigation by eye & ear
And Resistance of the pallid, who eat scorpions without fear
But most of all, we pray that whatever life may bring
That we remain free to take it upon a wing
