Today was supposed to be a simple outing. All Plat and Astro wanted was to help Mal get accustomed to downtown. Can't patrol the area if all he knows are the suburbs. All was going well. Plat walked him through and Astro would relay info over their earpieces. He even directed them to a mugging. As per his Astro’s instructions, Mal always sought compliance through non-violent means against normal being. In his case that meant floating a guy several feet into the air. The Ex-con was quick to answer any question the Kitten-pup had.
Looking for sympathy, the Ex-con admitted to having trouble finding employment. He was quickly convinced to apply for a job at one Rocky's shops on his phone. Mal mentions using his name under references and follows up with "They pay well. That way you can get by and we will never meet like this again. Right?" in a tone of hopeful child. The man is unable to tell if that was a genuine question or a threat. So, he anxiously nods in agreement and is sent on his way. Answering one of Plat's unasked questions of why Rocky’s side of King & Baron contains so many ex-felons and former criminals.
Plat watches stunned. Before the Rabbit-rottie could compliment his younger cousin a tear in space is formed in the alleyway. The rabbit-pup ears perk. He turns with his hands ablaze. His reflexes aren’t enough to prepare him for the sight of this aberration of reality that stumbles forth. Shaped like a person but somehow wrong. A roiling blackness of flesh that twitches so fast you only just notice as it stops. In raspy voice it says “Oh wonderous of days. Such glory it is to stand before the lord of my master. Apologies King in Platinum for sullying your gaze with my appearance.” It bows before Plat.
Confused Plat can only respond “Uh, no problem my dude. You, good?” Over the comms Astro states “My Drone’s detecting a lot of weird readings. Careful.”
“Of course.” The creature answers “I stand at the precipice a rebirthing. Glory to he that paves the way to a glorious new existence. My only regret is The Endens Helgon will not make it in time to witness your ascension. Curse that Loathsome Stranger’s trapping.” Plat feels Mal tug his jacket and tells the creature to wait one minute while he and his cousin huddle up. Mal whispers “Stranger is the guy who doesn’t want you to obliterate everything, yeah? I think this guy might be evil. Endens Helgon is literally 'Saint of the end'.”
“No shit.” Plat whispers back. “Cult types are basic bad guy 101. Stand back. I’ll pump him for information and get his guard down.” Astro voice boom in their ears telling Mal to move. Mal doesn’t stop to consider it. On reflex he levitates upward. Below him a magical beam streak pass. Without pause the boy claps his hand together. The ground beneath the creature fold into a explosion of concrete. The creature rises into the air from the dust unharmed. “Apologies, young one. But your noble life is required to free my god from these mortal trappings. My distractions won’t keep your allies busy forever.”
They blast off exchanging attacks in mid-air. Quick reflexes and gravity barrier are all that stand in the way of hits that knock him senseless. Plat follows, parkouring across the landscape with supernatural speed. Berating himself over his fear of flying. Firing fireballs that strike and do nothing. Held back by his fear of destroying the area. Advancing his fate exactly toward what the creature wants. Then an idea hits him. Over his comm he instructs Mal to push him toward the roof he’s own. His cousin complies and crashes into the creature. It takes the hit in stride but finds itself unable to move from the crater it stands in.
“Ah yes.” The creature nods. “I had forgotten how good your family was at sealing, King in Platinum. A pity. I had hoped I would live to see the future you bring.” It rips open it’s chest and a pulsating energy burst from its chest. The sky turns red and the boys look up to see Asteroid falling from the sky. “For you Endens Helgen, I offer my life.”
“Astro, I think it’s time we call my mom.” Plat suggest. To which Astro replies “She busy stopping another one halfway across the world. Everybody is busy. It on you.”
“Yes. It is.” The creature says. “The power to destroy that will push your further along your destined path. The death of Malachite and city if you don’t will do the same. There is only-” A large rock flies into his mouth. Mal stands at the edge of the building. His body vibrating with terror. Plat looks on feeling helpless. If he gives in to the destructive impulses for something this big, that could mean the devastation of more then a city.
Then he notices the fur pattern around Mal’s leg changing. Similar to his own. Soon after a layer white material like bone forms over them, his knuckles, and face. Slowly he begins to remind the rabbit-rottie of his great grandmother Eighth. Mal grins and the bioluminescent membrane forms over his eyes. He give his cousin a thumbs up. Then slams his bony fist together lik has seen Sol do. The lessons Mal’s learned come to him but are interrupted by Astro worriedly stating “It took you weeks to build up against something much smaller. Just run. At your max speed you should be able to escape the radi-”
Mal kneels shouting “Blackhole, Cannon,” The next bit of yelling is lost as the boy rockets up and breaks the sound barrier. Plat finds himself floating. Along with several vehicles and anything else not bolted down. Mal pulls local gravity and dark energy from around him. Then from a city block. A flood of energy courses through is body while hitting Mach 5. A speed that the jacket Waylon lent him sadly was not made to handle. Try as he might, he can’t spare enough to keep friction and heat from eating away at his growing bone armor and clothing. The boy continues screaming and pulling in more force and energy. He strikes the meteor with the power of his home.
Repelling gravitational waves push against the falling death. In Mal’s head the theme music reaches it's peak. The meteor slows. Cracks form along it bumpy surface from the kitten-rottie battering it with gravitational pulses deep within it. Plat watches and plans with seconds Mal is giving him. Then the impossible happens. The meteor breaks first. Chucks of stone scatter and fall towards the city. Malachite drops along with them.
Plat readies himself. His imp minions drop at his side to provide support. A green furry form rubs against the robbit-rottie’s back. The demon grins while whispering “I forgot how soft you were.”
