The english you learn in school is never as good as the english you learn playing games or watching videos. Maybe its just english class in germany thats shit but who knows :D

It much depends on whether your teachers give a shit or not. Luckily my teachers were all commited to teach some solid everyday english. The rest you´d have to teach yourself anyway.

My teacher gave a crap but still, understanding english is different than speaking and translating it.

I had a teacher like that. Since I knew English super well, and was ahead of the class, I always gave the more life-like answer, rather then what was supposed to be the lesson's answer. Example:
- Are you a student?
- Uhum.
- Full sentence, please!
- Yes, I am a student.

It was a game for me to give the more life-like answer to a "yes/no question", and the reaction "Full sentence, please!" was always funny for me. =:3

Today I watched the video lectures of this teacher. We often had debates and short episodes for the student blog. I remember once I read various examples of satirical essays https://papersowl.com/examples/satire/ to find funny jokes for lessons. Looking back at these videos, there is even nostalgia. He was the only teacher who did not require the study of boring materials, but could joke a lot and study with us in the lessons those topics that are of interest to us.

One of my favorite teachers in school was my English teacher who introduced me to the fascinating world of complex sentence structures. What set my favorite teacher apart was their ability to provide real-world examples and practical applications of complex sentence structures. They encouraged us to analyze literature, news articles, and even our own writing to identify and understand different types of complex sentences. This approach not only enhanced our grammar skills but also deepened our comprehension and critical thinking abilities.
