Looks like the local inflatable cult is at it again.
Summer was the perfect time to attempt their summoning ritual. Firstly, there was plenty of access to bottles of gaseous Flesh-to-Vinyl magic - surprisingly high in demand in this era of people with special interests. Secondly, their cult leader's timeshare opened, providing a discreet location for the ceremony. Thirdly, there were plenty of options for a vessel: mortals from all over the land loved to lavish in the coastal sun, and almost certainly among them would be those with magic in their veins.
All that was needed was to put out an advertisement: FUN IN THE SUN ON THE COAST OF DUN! BEACH-HOUSE, FULLY-STOCKED, FOUR-BED, THREE BATH, CREW OF CUTE KOBOLDS TO SERVE LAVISH VACATION!
The cult leader made sure to cloak the advertisement, so that only magically-inclined individuals could see it. Unfortunately for the cult leader, most magically-inclined individuals were able to spot a suspicious notice immediately. Too sharp. They'd just laugh a sort of laugh that said "Nice try, that's cute," clip out the unrelated coupon covered up by the ad, and go about their arcane studies or prayers or however they refreshed their mana.
Anyways, Aylaka wasn't the sharpest. One would think after being "around" for hundreds of years, right into the modern age of magic, she'd have managed to wise out an obvious trap.
She did not, in this case. Or maybe she did, and the elvish woman just wanted to roll with risk. She always did find it exciting. Experience new adventures!
Well, here we are. Surely this would be the best summer vacation ever. There were no problems for our subjects. Cult of inflatable kobolds got their vessel. Plenty of Flesh-to-Vinyl. The timeshare wasn't even falsely advertised, though the classification of four bedrooms was debatable. The bindings on Aylaka may not even have been necessary. The ritual was a complete success.
The rest of the beach city of Dun, however, would have to deal with the problems immediately following the summoning ritual. The kaiju-sized pooltoy drake able to mass produce and vent Flesh-to-Vinyl was sure to ruin someone's vacation, and most denizens would not take kindly to becoming pooltoys. On the other hand, a good spraying of Flesh-to-Vinyl would certainly assure citywide water safety.
