There's an interesting trait of the IDW Sonic comic, aside from minor side characters every original new character it's introduced had been a villain if male (Rough and Tumble, Dr. Starline, Mimic) or a hero if female (Tangle, Whisper, Belle) but along comes Surge the Tenrec here to buck those gender norms and be a proud female villain. So let's hear it for Sonic's newest girlboss...I'm using that term correctly, right?
