No matter the practise, it was still a fairly meticulous process. And Sissel wasn't going to mess this one up.
It wasn't a commission for one of the several weddings taking place this season, it wasn't even a birthday cake (though he always took special care, even thought Euca was content with essentially chocolate mounds). No, today was one of the rare moments when he realised he was an artist, and sometimes self-expression was necessary, especially after working for others for so long.
Light footsteps stopped at the door, and the rabbit smiled. Euca could be a chaotic demon, but he always respected his need for concentration.
"Go on, ask me what I'm doing" Sissel dared, still polishing with some red food dye.
A giggle. Euca must have thought of something funny, though probably aborted that thought in his head. Pity, he really liked his quips, no matter how inanely idiotic.
"You really want me to ask, uh?" he said, and movement picked by the lapine ears could tell Sissel he crossed his arms and laid on the side.
"Just a moment..."
A few touches with a culinary brush adding brown, black and pink in an arrow.
"... and voilá!"
Sissel rose proudly, blushing a little.
"Oh wow, is this a gay wedding cake or something?" Euca asked.
"What? No, its a pride cake."
"A pride cake?"
"Yeah! I feel like that I don't often express the fact that I'm gay, so I decided this month should have a change of pace."
"I don't know, you express it plenty in the bedroom..." Euca said, rubbing Sissel's cheek and giving him a tender kiss.
Sissel grunted, before being appeased with a kiss in the cheek.
"I'm proud of you. I mean, you don't really hide that you're gay, but its nice to see you acknowledge that sometimes."
Sissel sighed, leaning on Euca, pushing his fiancé into his arms. A devious thought crossed his mind.
"I'm proud that you're proud of me being proud."
"Aw, thanks. I'm proud of you being proud of me being proud of you being proud."
Sissel shook his head.
"Okay, you win."
"With you, I'm always winning."
"So fucking mushy today."
"Only because I'm a sweetiepie, and so are you."
Both played and cuddled for a while, before staring at the cake. It was a real masterpiece, relatively small but multilayered, each a pride flag.
"...I don't want to at this."
"Yeah, me neither."
"It has chocolate in it, though..."
And the rest was history. Still, Euca did take a picture, so the cake's memory would be everlasting, amen
