"What did I just click on?" This is a "Novel Card", something I'm trying out to promote my older works. Think of it as a flyer or a reminder that this story exists in the mass flood that is content. This one is for:
**** 1989 - An odd choice of title, I know. I wanted to call it Hurt from Johnny Cash's cover, but the movie Logan used that too recently at the time. And Weeds Or Wildflowers makes the novel sound like it's taking place during The Great Depression. So deal with 1989 and give Skold a listen to. I have used his work a couple of times before, and it does fit quite well here.
But anyway, 1989 is my 2016 NaNoWriMo [National November Writer's Month] novel; a bit of a 'contest' where your goal is to write your novel within 30 days. >>;; Mine was quite the experience. I ended up thinking of a story premise and at least half the plot up to the day before NaNo started... And then COMPLETELY SCRAPPING IT to start something NEW at last minute.
Uggggggh, why do I do this to myself sometimes?
18 days, 1 super disappointing country election (not my country, but), and 3 head colds later... Well, you get one of the best novels I ever wrote. I didn't think it at the time just due to how I was feeling, but I do think of this one rather fondly now. It does have its flaws, don't get me wrong, things I've talked about in decent detail can actually be found in the FA's comment section. But overall there is just... A lot of themes going on within this small novel. And the last 'chapter' is just the cherry on top.
I'm trying not to spoil anything here, so I won't continue. In short, you'll probably like this novel if you enjoy: +Fantasy Worlds with many different Species, including Anthro and Human (though there's not a lot of human in it) +Western Dragon 'Wyrmlings' +Some Survival Teaching +"Kaiju"- just without the macro size. But basically a walking apocalypse +Violence & Gore +There's Nothing Sexual in this piece, sorry to disappoint +A very observant dinosaur that loves to give hugs +Some Humor/Silliness. It does serve a purpose though
