Another one, whoo. This one is Sunday's experiment out of my 5x7 pad.

I love my new gouache paints, the Copic shading kit isn't too bad either. It's more grayscale than I expected mixed with watercolor, but it plays nicely for a faux-digital shading type thing, as long as you put down your values first, then your colors.

Gouache paints, the ones I have, are watercolor-based but opaque and function like acrylic. I was using an impasto build-up technique and my impasto gel just arrived today so expect more of that. If I can't afford oils, I'll just continue pushing my media until it fucking functions the way I want it to.

I usually just end up bending traditional supplies to the flexibility of digital rules (heavy erasing, graphite for copying layers, masking fluid for masks) instead of vica versa.

You can't save every mistake, but you sure can bullshit a lot of "happy accidents."

I don't have a high cost of living in a one-room studio apartment, I have no car, and it's one of the few things that honestly brings me pleasure to my life.

I get a little bit here and there and it adds up.

A lot of my replacement art supplies I owe to friends helping me with my wishlist when all my stuff was stolen, if you remember that... I had pretty much gotten some for myself as birthday presents or from others and I was pretty devastated at the end of June.

...Hmm, things haven't really improved just yet either.

This is a very beautiful look you've given it. A very successful experiment if I get a vote on the matter, and you've made it look experimental in all the good ways. Just so freaking beautiful.

Please, please, please pat yourself on the back for this one..
