Another one, whoo. This one is Sunday's experiment out of my 5x7 pad.
I love my new gouache paints, the Copic shading kit isn't too bad either. It's more grayscale than I expected mixed with watercolor, but it plays nicely for a faux-digital shading type thing, as long as you put down your values first, then your colors.
Gouache paints, the ones I have, are watercolor-based but opaque and function like acrylic. I was using an impasto build-up technique and my impasto gel just arrived today so expect more of that. If I can't afford oils, I'll just continue pushing my media until it fucking functions the way I want it to.
I usually just end up bending traditional supplies to the flexibility of digital rules (heavy erasing, graphite for copying layers, masking fluid for masks) instead of vica versa.
You can't save every mistake, but you sure can bullshit a lot of "happy accidents."
