in some countries though, like sweden, there's no public toilet separation or hardly anymore, though they also got rid of the standing to piss stuff, they could have left them in a separate room or something. my partner doesn't like those but i got used to them ever since school so i use them to take a piss normally. but of course in homes you don't get them so for me its not such a deal.

There are cultures where both sexes normally use the same bathroom, but the understanding is that manners dictate that you don't pay attention to other people's nudity.

The way this would actually happen IRL is someone with a slightly strong jawline enters a woman's bathroom to just take a piss, then some woman goes ape shit claiming they are a man.
Which sadly is a thing that happens a lot, even some ciswomen get called trans for just having a strong jaw.

Obviously we can't poll strangers on their bathroom experiences but a trans woman doesn't really act any different than a cis one. Most people who would assume someone is X sex when they enter a bathroom would have to assume it off superficial things that do not prove what a person's private parts are.
Granted there is just anecdotes on how these bathroom situations go. There was a case where some cis woman was threatened by another cis woman that they'd have security called on them for looking like a 'guy'. And the person being accused of this for whatever reason was happy they were trying to enforce bathrooms so much.
Would be nicer if all bathrooms were unisex. Or there was always a unisex option. Less hurt for trans folk who just want to take a piss without their gender being scrutinized.

Bathrooms would be unisex if it weren't for the fact that there are creepy people who do stare at strangers' genitals. Presumably another reason is where else can women simply be with other women and talk about female issues without men listening in on them?
BTW I read one mystery story from decades ago which pointed out that it was easier for a woman to impersonate a man than vice versa.

There are creepy people who stare regardless. Banning trans people from using bathrooms that align with their gender doesn't prevent gay/lesbian sex offenders from doing the same. Plus "Presumably another reason is where else can women simply be with other women and talk about female issues without men listening in on them?" Trans women are women. Though I've never seen folk have full blown discussions in a bathroom.
There are countless photos of both trans men and trans woman that I could show you, and you'd not be able to tell their sex. It is not safe for them to be in a bathroom meant for the other gender. Imagine you went to use the bathroom and saw a woman in the men's room (assuming you're a man), or imagine being a woman and seeing this dude with a long ass beard come in. Forcing trans people to use bathrooms based on sex instead of gender causes problems too. The cases of trans people being perverts in bathrooms is far less than homosexuals doing that. THAT IS NOT TO SAY homosexuals are bad. That is to say, determine your laws of who can enter bathrooms based on sex offenders don't work.
