Personality
Ashley is very logically/mechanically minded and things of most things in terms of problems that could be solved or things that can be improved.
Although she is normally fairly upbeat, she can be somewhat hard on herself at times.
This is mostly because her parents never directly show any approval or appreciation for anything she does, leading her to at times think that she's not good enough.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes: Computers, Legos, books, music, open-world games, talking with friends
Dislikes: Spicy food, her sister (until they are in their teens), having to dress proper for her family's events, being alone.
Background/History
Early Years
Ashley was born to a wealthy, socially and politically conservative family. In her early years (baby/toddler) Ashley had no socialization or friends save for her sister Katie. This changed in preschool when she met Melody who quickly became her best friend.
Ashley and Melody basically grow up together as Ashley's parents are all-to-happy to send her of to Melody's house to get her out of their hair.
Due to Melody's medical condition, Ashley sees from a young age all the attention and care that Melody receives, and subconsciously yearning for some level of care and attention herself, develops some habits based on Melody.
Observing Melody who is almost completely incontinent, leads to Ashley developing a habit of having intentional 'accidents' in her early school years but she shifts this to being a private habit after being made fun of for it in the 3rd grade. She does share that this is a habit with Melody in kindergarten and, both of them being very young, Melody accepts it without question. Ashley does occasionally use Melody's diapers for fun when hanging out at Melody's house but prefers her habit of wetting her clothes, feeling more 'helpless' and in need of care from that.
Independently of this habit, Ashley wets the bed fairly regularly until she is 13 when it becomes less and less frequent until it is a rare occurrence that happens a few times a year for the rest of her life. She is shamed and punished for this by her parents and develops strong embarrassment around it, even though she wets herself for fun during the day.
Ashley learns early on that she has no interest in boys, and is only curious about other girls. She however knows from overhearing her family's discussions about news and current events that it is not okay for her to feel that way. She caries this shame with her until her early teens.
She becomes aware in 5th grade that Melody has a special interest in her, due to Melody being terrible at hiding her feelings. She realizes quickly that Melody's 'special interest' is a crush, and though she doesn't hate the idea, she can't accept that part of herself yet.
Teen Years
At 13 Melody finally builds up the courage to ask Ashley out, and Ashley hesitantly agrees, telling Melody that it has to be a secret from Ashley's parents. Melody's mom (Marcy) helps facilitate their relationship and, while never directly lying to Ashley's parents, Marcy never lets on that Ashley and Melody are more than just friends.
At 16 Ashley's parents find out that Melody and Ashley are together after they take her phone away from her as punishment for an argument and go through it. They yell and scream at her for a good hour before telling her they would disown her if it wouldn't make them look bad. Ashley continues to live with them for a couple of months, but it is too uncomfortable and she moves in with Melody and Marcy.
Early Adulthood
Ashley continues to live with Melody until she is 20, when she leaves for university, studying to become a pediatric doctor.
In her second year of university, at a party where Ashley gets considerably drunk, she makes a few dumb decisions and ends up cheating on Melody which leads to her having a secret relationship with her roommate for several months before the guilt becomes too much and she tells Melody about it. At this point Melody breaks up with her and they stay separated for 8 months before they eventually end up together again.
Ashley returns to near her hometown for her residency and spends what time she can with Melody.
In their early thirties Ashley and Melody move to the northwest coast of the country.
