August 29th, 2005 - Monday
[Ethan the pup-bunny, Liam the Shiba Inu, and Terry the llama are at the dome jungle gym. They're hanging around with each other, having a discussion about Alex, who’s then seen coming from the yard.]
Ethan: "Oh look, Alex is coming back!"
Terry: "Yeah, and it looks like Rosie isn't crying anymore."
[Alex arrives and starts climbing towards the top of the dome.]
Ethan: "Hey Alex, how'd it go?"
Terry: "Was it bad?"
[Alex often stops while talking to use her other hand to help her explain]
Alex: "Okay, I know our group isn't for gossiping, but I swear the context is important. So apparently, Marco has been calling Rosie a 'booger-nose,' right?"
Liam: "Aww."
Terry: "How mean."
Alex: "Yeah, he's being all angry and just calling her that for no reason. So I started by following your guys' advice and kept it simple. I was reassuring her that she wasn't a booger-nose and told her to just ignore him."
Ethan: "Ah yeah!"
Terry: "That's great!"
Alex: "… but then I thought about it for a second."
Liam: "Oh no."
Alex: "I mean, booger-nose? That's the best he could come up with? Surely he could've thought of something better, like 'booger-head.' That could imply all sorts of things, like that she picks her nose and wipes it on her own hair! Or even 'poop-nose.' I don't think I need to explain why that one's bad."
Terry: "And… that's what got her to stop crying?"
Alex: "Oh no, she was trying to explain to me that he's been calling her booger-nose nonstop for weeks, so I told her to just sock him in the nose if he ever called her a name again."
Ethan: "Is that why she looks so angry and staring off into the distance?"
Alex: "Oh yeah! Hey Liam, remember that thing you taught me about meditation? About closing your eyes, focusing on one thing, and altering reality in your mind?"
Liam: "Uhhh… yeah?"
Alex: "So I told Rosie to close her eyes, focus on my voice, and imagine that I'm Marco calling her a booger-nose. A dumb, fat, ugly booger-nose. Booger-nose, booger-nose, booger-nose."
Liam: …
Alex: "So now, if Marco even thinks about calling her a name, he's gonna get a face full of knuckle sandwich. And then, he'll never mess with her again!"
Ethan: " And... where's Marco now? We should probably figure out why he's being mean to her."
Terry: "He still has trouble controlling his frustration. We should talk to both of them and try to resolve their issue in peace."
Ethan: "Look, he's over there across the yard! He's coming out of the bathroom."
Liam: "And it looks like Rosie is getting up now."
Terry: Where's she going?
Ethan: "It looks like…"
…
Liam: "Oh crap, she's heading for Marco!"
Terry: "Run, run, run!"
[Just as Alex makes it to the top of the dome and sits down, she sees the boys running off to stop the potential fight.]
Alex: "H-hold on! Did I do a good job or what!?"
