This based on this short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeZDptoQCCI&t=21s&a... . Not this first I've ever seen but one of the earliest pieces of TF media I can remember watching vividly which played a part in me discovering and eventually joining sites like this. But that's another story.
The ending we got in the actual short works well. For the longest time, I had an alternate ending in my head where Pluto reappears and at first, all we see is his head poking through the window. Mickey takes the paper from him, all is well and good. We cut to outside, zoom out and oops, Pluto's still a dog-headed dinosaur.
There's something (for lack of a better term) poetic about a dog getting turned into a dinosaur. Dinosaurs are known for their fossils and there's the trope of dogs burying bones. This that too much of a stretch?
