Mad respect for these custom commissions, and I hope that you find out what the hell is wrong with the printer.

Perhaps the motor that draws in the filament is too weak? Or the sensor is bad? Perhaps a bug in the software? It could be a thing, you'll just have to diagnose it with different tryouts.
