I've never played as well, but from what I saw, she's very much a tomboy, spunky, badass, with a fine amount of sass and snark here and there. She's supposed to be AU variation of Ratchet, which is more goofy, silly, "acting cool" sort of a guy. Ratchet IS cool character, but he grew up through many games and we saw him both silly and badass, while Rivet is already made badass and cool.

I totally encourage you to try the older games. Getting PS5 (or any other nowadays) is a pain and a hit to the wallet, so I'd suggest you trying an Emulator. PS3 Emu works just fine (if you have a strong enough PC), and if you don't want to get the game illegaly, there's always online stores for digital copies.
