Brave beheeyem. Can’t they reverse the manipulation on TiNi though?

Probably, but it seems like rather then try and force it, they're trying to be polite and not interfere unless asked. Granted it means it could take longer to fix possible problems that may have been caused, but straight up doing it seems against what they seem to believe in :V

Or I may just be looking too deep lol

I believe the beheeyam only "saw" the damage and confirmed it was there. TiNi left before the beheeyam could actually do anything about the damage even if they wanted to.

Sometimes even with the best of intentions if you attempt to make changes to someone by force you can make life so much harder for the person you are trying to help. Sometimes to the point of causing irrevocable damage to that person.

Personally i believe this Beheeyam is doing the right thing by reporting what they see and hoping that they can lead TiNi to make the connection and changes themselves. The fact that TiNi was willing to have someone look AND it ended up being someone of the same species that really mucked him up shows that on some level he understands that something isn't quite right. Hopefully with some more time with the right people he will make the choices that will bring him full circle to where he started.

I believe its a "maybe," but they're a practitioner, they need his permission rather than essentially re-violating his mind.

Probably what I'll say is wrong but I think they still should force TiNi to do the teraphy. His mind was already forced changed, and his responses must be counter-measurements of the psychic attack, that alterated his memories to think he always were this way and it's 100% his feelings. His actions, emotions and decisions are not being made 100% on his free will and this is what's wrong.

I wonder how much a Beheeyem would charge parents who want their LGBT son or daughter forcefully converted to cis-het . . .

Nothing since it'd be illegal. Even real therapy, the psychiatric is not there to "change your mind" or "leaning you to a certain thought", they're there to orient the pacient to reach to their own conclusion and advice what do to about it. They can't force you to change your personality or orientation.

And people never do things that are illegal. 🙄

I guess the vibe I get here is "extremely efficient personality correction." Consider the parents who send their kids to Gay conversion camps in an attempt to "pray the gay away".

Those kinds of people would jump at the chance to "fix" their son or daughter in one quick and easy mind hack.  Doesn't even have the trauma of a camp since a psychic can apparently rewire a brain and then cover their tracks.

And of course this opens up the lovely Avenue of

"You're not really gay. It's just some evil psychic type who confused you."

There's some rather unsettling black mirror style implications in this scenario.

Yes, I agree with you. But just because I said it's illegal, doesn't mean that people wouldn't do it. I'm pretty aware of conversions camps and their "therapy". Can't even be called as such. I can't even cope that this kind of thing still exists.

While david mentions it being illegal would be true in this universe, it does not stop people from doing things illegally. They could wipe any indication that they'd done it in the first place from the patient's memory after being paid in cash.

I see. Quite the Black Mirror style moral quandary here. I appreciate the intrigue. The narrative sort of casts trans as a mental disorder though which feels a little icky.

Not really. I only noticed that in TiNi's case, which is a result of a mental manipulation which can be used in a lot of ways. The other ones, like that three "brats", they obviously are using the transgenderism as sexual satisfaction (I even bet they'd be jealous of a Ditto, that can change into any forms it likes, male or female). But mental disorder, I didn't notice that (probably I have missed a page that shows that and I don't recall)

And now that I mentioned Ditto, I think transgenderism would be kinda possible (and normal) in that universe. It's just not everyone can change genders like a Ditto.

TiNi's affliction is something he wasn't born with. What happened to TiNi is mental manipulation via Psychic influence. That's not good, regardless of whether it results in trans. TiNi was not born trans; this much is certain, especially given the news about TiNi being mentally Psychically manipulated. Getting kind of tired seeing people defaulting to 'transphobia' instead of thinking more critically about this. I have faith in my readers' intelligence...

Heya! Thanks for responding.

I don't think it or you are transphobic. But the telegram group he was in did lean a little hard on negative trans stereotypes.

But if that's what the scene calls for then you should write it in the way that tells the story the way it should be told.

I look forward to seeing how the story develops!
