“Happy birthday!” “Happy birthday.”
Elan opened his eyes to a strawberry cake decorated with lit candles. “You guys did this all for me?” He sniffled a little and started crying. “Is he seriously crying? Yeesh…” Teras shot him an angry look. “Uh, I mean, don't cry.” He offered his shoulder for Elan to cry into. “We did it for you because you're, like, really cool and stuff.” Dakota hated pretending and dropped the act. “Ugh. Alright, listen. We did this because we like you. So stop crying already.”
Teras butted in, “What Dakota's trying to say is, you're our friend, and we like to see you happy.” “Mm-hmm. What he said. Now, can we have some cake already? I'm getting hungry.”
“You're funny, Dakota. T-thanks, guys. The cake looks really good!” “You should thank him. He's the one that baked it for you.” “Really, Dakota?!” Dakota looked away, slightly embarrassed. “He sure did~. Maybe those girl clothes he's always wearing make him a natural baker.” “Shut it, flea bag.” Even on Elan's birthday, their rivalry was still going.
Elan stood in front of his birthday cake and thought about what to wish for. He already had everything he could ever want. New friends, a loving family, and an irresistible wolf boyfriend that babysits him. He decided and gently blew out the candles. “So, what'd you wish for?” “Dude, you're not supposed to ask. Otherwise, it won't come true.” “It's alright, Teras. I, um, wished that we could spend more time together.” He blushed from revealing his wish.
Teras rustled his hair and handed him his present. “Don't worry, dude. We'll go to a ton of different places together! Ms. Priss over here's coming too.” “Yup. And we can always ditch the flea bag over here and have some real fun.”
Dakota and Teras butted heads behind Elan's back, “Someone wants to get mauled.” “No thanks. Your breath smells like dog food. Nyeh!” “I swear, I'm going to—” “Wow, guys! That sounds great! How about we go somewhere next weekend?” The two boys separated and pretended nothing was happening. “Sure thing. I'm up for whatever.” “There's a new coffee shop opening a city over. How about we go there?” “Ooh! I love coffee! I can't wait!”
