When William T. Riker and Deanna Troi were reunited aboard the Enterprise-D, they carried on the close friendship they've had for years. Of course Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the rest of the crew doesn't mind this, as long as it didn't interfere with their duties in Starfleet. Troi may have gotten used to Riker's short beard, but in "Insurrection" she made him shave it off. (This kind of behavior was due to the metaphysic radiation in the rings around the Ba'Ku homeworld.) By the time "Nemesis" premiered, his beard grew back...and he was all set to marry Troi at last, according to Betazoid tradition. For those who don't know, a Betazoid wedding is kind of like an Earth wedding, except for two major differences:
1. The groom takes on the bride's surname. (So Riker will now become William T. Troi.)
2. Everyone at the wedding, including the marriage couple, are NAKED!
