He's a humble tavern owner who met the Adventurer Delilah. She settled down with him and the two had Aki, but soon after becoming a mom she couldn't resist the call of one last adventure... And got sadly captured by an evil warlock using her as a life battery. She DID end up escaping, but by the time she returned home Aki was now in her 20s.
Luckily she had a good sum of adventuring money left behind for her husband and daughter, so the two did well enough during her absence and kept on running the tavern while doing his best to raise Aki by himself. She DID pick up a few tricks from hanging at the tavern, and got especially good with money.
JJ never looked at another lady in the hopes his wife returned... Poor guy, good thing his patience was rewarded.
